Carpet

I am looking into putting in German square weave. I was wondering if there was anything similar at less cost. I am particular to the vinyl binding I always see on these sets, so that would be a criteria for any other considerations.-Thanks

Chris: I am curious as the the price of genuine German square weave carpeting. I am searching for the VW style loop carpet for my seat backs. I have found German loop carpet, which is supposedly for 50s-70s Mercedes at $55/yd.

I've seen it range anywhere from $550 to $800. These are prices for kits, I don.t know what they charge by the yard.

Man - have you ever smelled WET German wool square weave? Yugh.

Chris!! As Wolf says don't do it unless you plan on your car not getting wet; even accidentally; or if installing a leak free hard top on your car.

I re-fitted my TR6 with Winton Wool carpets. It sold for a LOT extra because of the interior and plus it was a second owner original (mostly) car, but . . . .

MAN they do smell something awfull when/if they get wet. "When" in a TR6, "IF" in a Mercedes or Jag . . .

So if I don't use German square, but I like the look, especially of the binding, then what? Any reccomendations. I mean if I can install a similar product and achieve the desired results I would love to know about it. Thanks-Chris

I guess the answer to that one would be to look for a similar material making sure it's synthetic and not organic; that way you'll make sure it's impervious to water.
