...and I'd like to add to the question - there was a thread awhile back about synthetic square weave that wouldn't stink when it got wet? And has anyone done rubber flooring with carpet up the sides, using a VW rubber mat over the tunnel? Wonder how that works.

Sorry to upstage your question there Brian but I think we're on the same topic.
Estimate what you need, then buy 50% more. That worked for me.
I used an industrial carpet that resembles Square-weave but it
is synthetic- also guaranteed against U.V. fading. After doing
2 cars I saved at least $300 AFTER the cost of materials and
the sewing machine (Target special). The grey helps break up
the black on black thing a bit. Before and after:

Thanks, TC. Bruce- the stuff I got was just good old indoor/outdoor
industrial carpet from Home Depot. It looks like a cross between
Square weave and loop (closer to Square weave). It comes in a 8 by 10
foot roll. I purchased 2 and got into the second roll before I was
done. The weave has a pattern that forms subtle lines and I wanted
these lines to go side to side which uses up more of the carpet.
That is a very nice job on the custom fit. I looks great Kurt. Indoor out door carpet! thats agood one.

If you have to buy it by the roll it takes 11 yrds, 9 is more than enough yrds for the cab and Im allowing you some fudge errors. and the rolls run 50 inches wide. But depending on supplier you can get 60"

I used felt for edging I don't recemend that again It gets fuzzy as it wares. I have to shave it to defur it from time to time.

I guess vinal might be best for edging but its bad to pucker in the turns.

I got 11 yards from VS. and I still have part of the roll. ITs the stock vw black carpet.

What did you use for edging? and did it come from Home depo as well?
