I am restoring the interior of my trunk. Is there any techinical reason why I should not carpet over the gas tank. Although I am not using a VS trunk kit, I noticed from pictures that their tank section of carpet is a separate piece. Does the tank piece need to be easily removable or can I glue it down like the rest of the trunk. As always, thanks from the rookie section.

Remember to do something about sealing the trunk and/or putting drain holes under the battery! I discovered years of silt at the bottom of my nose section when I pulled my carpet up, and a metric ton of rust around the edges of my fuel tank. Consult these guys before you do anything!
