Hello All,
Been a long time since posting, but I have been lurking steadily. As some of you may know, I sadly sold my JPS Coupe last summer to fund College for my Daughter. That has been going great, given the challenges recently. I sold the car to a member here and when I did, as a favor I let him drive away with my black legacy plate on the back. This was to be a very short term loan, just to get him home to San Diego without being pulled-over. So as I waited, and messages were sent and promises made, it became very frustrating. The new owner said he was having problems with DMV. Funny, I have bought and sold 2 cars since this transaction and they have been relatively quick with the paperwork. At one point I was going to report it to DMV as stolen, but talking with the Clerk they informed me that once it leaves your property and the new owner has registered the car, the plate has been officially “ Surrendered”. Lesson learned: If you love your black legacy plates, don’t let them leave your place. I was going to use them on my next Coupe, but I will have to be happy with one namesake plate hanging in my garage.
Regards,
Brian
