How many of these signs have you seen in your travels? Many, no doubt. I have often thought that the sign should say "Caution, Fallen Rock" as this is more to the point. That is, be on the look-out for rocks that have fallen in the roadway, vs. one that is falling and is going to smash you. Has anyone ever seen a rock actually in the process of falling on a highway, and could do anything about it? Anyway, see if this link works. For me, there is an ad fot AT&T first, then the clip. To which I can only say: OMG!!! This is in Tennessee, I think it says -- The Dragon?? Enough to make you want to live in Deleware.

Yelp! Seems the big north east er that just came up the east coast with all the rain has caused a few problems and a few deaths. A tree fell on one ladies car and killed her instantly. she was driving in the storm. It was a week long event.

That rock slide did not hurt anything but feelings, for travelers wanting to see the NC mountains and the fall colors. They said it would take a week to clear the road.

But I do love NC the smell of pine and honey suckle in the spring, and the dogwood blooms are worth it, but we do have some rough weather in the fall sometimes.
I was hit by falling rock about 20 years ago. I was coming through an area where the road is cut through the mountain about 10 miles south of Lahaina. There was something like a puff of smoke about 30 feet up but I couldn't get out of the way fast enough. It hit the roof of my truck, softball sized dent.Luckily the rocks were small. They have since installed this system that looks like a bunch of hoops tied together like a huge blanket, anchored to the top of the cliff. Does a great job on the VW sized ones but the small ones still sneak through on occasion. Before the fix, you could come around a bend and there would be this truck-sized rock dead ahead. The tourist used to smash into them regularly because they'd be looking out at the ocean instead of watching the road.Worse in whale season.
I have an old picture of me sitting in a new 67 Vette coupe. The car is directly under a small waterfall that "romantically" (wifes word) fell directly from an overhang onto a public highway near Baniff (?) Canada. Only after we got home and developed the picture did we notice several doghouse size rocks and dozens of smaller rocks pecariously perched at the top edge of the falls with spring runoff "romantically" flowing over and around them! Ignorence is bliss.
