It took a while for them to correct some manufacturing glitches in the first batch but finally got my new CB Performance aluminum drum covers and installed them in my car. They look and fit great just for $89.95 for a set of four.

Somehow I think fitting the rear ones could be problematic or maybe even impossible on IRS cars (non-flared of course) sitting low because of interference with the body. I say so because I had to install the rear ones in my swingaxle car together with the wheel/tire. I'm guessing it'll be even more difficult to install on IRS cars due to the decreased clearance between rear wheels and fenders. For the front ones I just put the drum covers on the discs and then installed the wheel/tires. They even fit the So Cal Imports (Tri-Mil) wide five disc brakes. Here's a couple of pictures of them installed in my car. Check them out!

Ricardo, they certainly add to the authentic look of your car. I have polished ones with broadened 16" wheels (extra long bolts) on my car, a choise by the former owner. (Actually, I prefer yours.) The front wheels have a rubber cap on the centers.
BTW I'm curious to see the interior of your car.

Well Mart, my car is just a garden variety VS that I've been upgrading to add an authentic flavor to it. I added some dash pads I bought from fellow member Ron Fish and some other little touches here and there such as Porsche pedal pads and rubber shifter boot. I'll try to take some interior photos to post.

Bruce and Lambros; I posted this for the benefit of the other forum members. You save $100.00 when comparing their price to that of the Drumskins offered by Fibersteel. They would be a worthwhile addition at least for Lambros' car because of his "hubcapless" style.....

As a point of consideration, I asked CBperfomance if their drum covers would fit or work on a 4 bolt VW adapted to Wide 5 via their adaptor plates. (They Do sell 4 bolt to Wide 5 adaptors)
Response was that that their drum covers would NOT fit over the 4 bolt to wide 5 set up.
Also, they Don't recommend the use of the 4 bolt to wide 5 adaptors for Street applications.

Hey Lambros,
I LOVE YOUR CAR! I have a 71 pan based older IM with a swing axle rear suspension. What exactly did you have to do to convert to the 5 lug wheels? Is it as simple as just replacing the rear drums with 67's (I don't understand the spacer issue?) And where did you get 5 lug discs for the front? My concerns are I currently have 4 lugs (front disc / rear drum) and I have almost NO room to spare in the rear wheel wells (about 1/4"). There currently isn't any rubbing on the tires but I would hate to order and install everything and not have them fit. I understand the aluminum covers add about a 1/2". Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks, Mickey
Ricardo..., these will fit your IRS set up with no spacers..., just bolt on.

Thanks for the link David. Mickey, check it out. With respect to the front, if you're using drums just swap out for wide five '66 & up (balljoint front end) drums and they slip right in. If you want to get wide five discs, AC Industries (So Cal Imports), EMPI & CB Performance offer the kits for $500 & up. As Jim says don't worry about the thickness of the drum covers; it's negligible.
Stan - I just want to make sure I get this right. The So Cal 5-lug rear drums are OK and will keep the current track, they don't add anything? And as far as the fronts: I guess I should just order blank rotors and drill and tap them to fit my wide 5 wheels? Did that make sense? And you're right about the shifter! I didn't really get to demo it much the day I put it in (just around the block) as it was raining. Even though the weather was crappy today I took it to work and WHAT A DIFFERENCE! It's like having a new car! I think I'll get over the look of it real quick! Thanks again - Mickey
Mickey; I'm afraid you'll have to get two new disc brake kits (front and rear) from SoCal because you can't get blanks and drill them with the wide five pattern (they'll work with the 4 bolt & 5 bolt modern Porsche pattern but not with the 205 mm. I gather the spindles on those sets are different too from conventional Ghia or 4 bolt disc brakes.
