I've been thinking about a few upgrades on my Chesil Speedster.... brakes, wheels, suspension, gearbox and then the all import - more power! I had always said that I'd never mess with the engine as it went against the gain of the car, but I'm missing my old Golf 2.0 G60's shove.

I'm currently running an 1776 Arnie Levics built Type1 with twin Webbers. I had considered a S/C, but they look rare and more trouble than they're worth - then I found CB Performance's "Hidden Turbo" kit. It looks fairly reasonably priced and they're offering it as what appears to be a complete kit....

However, information on their web site about it is fairly limited. Does anyone have any experience with it? Is it a complete kit, or will other parts still need to be changed? Is it suitable to add to my motor? I appreciate with any forced induction setup on an N/A motor, unless you're only running low boost there will be internal work that needs to be carried out too. What are the specs of the kit (boost pressure, BHP & torque gains, etc).

I notice that Michael Ballard has what looks like a CB kit on his LV Speedster, but his engine is a bit different to mine! If anyone has any thoughts / exposure to the kit, I'd like to hear from you.

Thanks,

Mark

mark,

I don't know if you are familiar with this site but take a look
at "-shop talk forums". They have a "forced induction forum" full
of info. I'm sure you'll find everything you need. As for the c/b
kit. The header is a good idea but all the other "stuff" can be sourced locally for you. Saving you money. Why buy a turbo from california when you can buy/find the same one locally? In our U.S.
based mag. "hot vw's" they did a dyno H.P. competition/article. One
of the cars just used a standard vw header, bent up a 90 degree
adapter and plunked a draw thru side draft set-up on top. 332 bhp.
I realize the internal mods that made up this package, but my point is
you can come up with a similar set-up on your own. Once you check
the site above I'm sure you'll be eager to get started. good luck.
