BTW, in the sunshine that car shimmers like crazy and it often looks black and then has a red tinge.

I really liked that car when I owned it... 2110 cc and 3:44:1 and the tranny was probably the quietest I had ever seen in a type I.   It has sways front and back, larger rear tires and heated seats, AC, Power locks, Windows, PBrakes too.  Clarion Sound system was pretty good as well with Sub.  Overider bars, exhaust via rear bumperettes and hella Euro lights.  New Top 2014 I had it changed before sale.

I would have kept that car as I felt it was a near ultimate 4 cylinders AC. arguably 2335 being better but I had the opportunity to build a full 911 suspension with full Subie so there you go.  A great car for someone who wants a great combo and at a fair price.

When Henry was getting my IM ready for sale we discussed the possibility of selling it in the US.  Henry said it couldn't be done.  Mine was an unusual IM, as it was a pan car but registered as a 2010.  If Henry had registered it as a 1972 (year of the pan), when he did the restoration, it would have been fairly easy to sell it to someone living in the US.

Has anyone bought a Canadian registered used IM and registered it in CA?

Yup. You have to go through the SB100 registration process. It's no fun and it may not pass.

Rusty:  Not sure this is correct.

Yes, if Intermeccanica builds an IM for the U.S. market, and that car gets registered in the U.S., it can be registered in California.  (but can't be registered in Canada)

But, if Intermeccanica builds an IM for the Canadian market, and that car gets registered in Canada, it cannot be registered in California or any other U.S. state (legally, that is).

That's been my experience with IMs.
