No, not usually. But you would have to look into that in detail to see what could be done.
Henry said no. For that price I was ready to wire him cash right now.
The Canadian/USA dollar swing puts this ROADIE into about $33K USA...great number for a nice IM. That Tobacco paint is quite da Bomb!
I dont quite understand why? Quite often, folks but EURO models and bring them in, especially to LIBERAL emissions states......what might stop the import?
Anything can be done.... but you have to do it
BTW, in the sunshine that car shimmers like crazy and it often looks black and then has a red tinge.
I really liked that car when I owned it... 2110 cc and 3:44:1 and the tranny was probably the quietest I had ever seen in a type I. It has sways front and back, larger rear tires and heated seats, AC, Power locks, Windows, PBrakes too. Clarion Sound system was pretty good as well with Sub. Overider bars, exhaust via rear bumperettes and hella Euro lights. New Top 2014 I had it changed before sale.
I would have kept that car as I felt it was a near ultimate 4 cylinders AC. arguably 2335 being better but I had the opportunity to build a full 911 suspension with full Subie so there you go. A great car for someone who wants a great combo and at a fair price.
I should have mentioned that it has a dual quiet pack exhaust that makes it not so noisy and with full soundening package and also has had the body clearanced to allow the seat to go back further and tilt back for a taller person.
Has anyone bought a Canadian registered used IM and registered it in CA?
I would suggest that additionally contacting Henry @ IM.
As terrible as California is, with these sort of things, that Henry has his ducks in a row for success.
When Henry was getting my IM ready for sale we discussed the possibility of selling it in the US. Henry said it couldn't be done. Mine was an unusual IM, as it was a pan car but registered as a 2010. If Henry had registered it as a 1972 (year of the pan), when he did the restoration, it would have been fairly easy to sell it to someone living in the US.
Beautiful car. How much did it sell for?

Yup. You have to go through the SB100 registration process. It's no fun and it may not pass.

Rusty: Not sure this is correct.
Yes, if Intermeccanica builds an IM for the U.S. market, and that car gets registered in the U.S., it can be registered in California. (but can't be registered in Canada)
But, if Intermeccanica builds an IM for the Canadian market, and that car gets registered in Canada, it cannot be registered in California or any other U.S. state (legally, that is).
That's been my experience with IMs.
Bob,
I'm pretty sure Rusty did what he's describing.

Well, that is curious. I guess there are ways, then...
I wonder how old that IM was. I can see it with an old IM, as in 25 years old, but I didn't think it was possible with a newer car..
