Center Console

Hi all,

Has anyone come across an aftermarket center console that doesn't look too bad? Just looking for something to store everyday items in. I know that there are several consoles for VW Bugs available, but as I have an IM with no real hump they would not sit too well.

Any thoughts appreciated!!

What I did on my CMC was to cut 5x10" hole in either door panel when I built them. Don't have wind up windows so there is a tremendous amount of open space in the doors. You could fiberglass dividers in there or glue carpet/mat in bottom so stuff wouldn't slide around. Have thougth of cutting glove box in dash but it takes away from period look.

Won't work for me, as I have an IM Roadster with crank windows :)

Wayne, have you asked IM? I'm sure they could make an open-top bin out of wood to match your steering wheel and shift knob, line the bottom with matching carpeting and just put velcro on the bottom so you can take it out if you want. BTW, your car looks fabulous!

Wayne, I love the interior even more with the ivory switches and parts, as well as the vintage radio. Okay, what's the switch to the left of the radio for, antenna? Is it a toggle switch that flips up and down? Also, is your carpeting wool square weave? And what about the floor mats, they almost look like berber or sisal?

That is not a switch to the left of the radio, it is a lighter. Power antenna is controlled by the radio, with an additional cut off toggle nect to the choke and trunk knobs.

Carpet is square weave - not sure about the mats!!
