I need a replacement for my classic coach speedster..must have appropriate hook at top, any help?

Vintage Speedsters has them.... I bought one when I redid the botched windshield installation (multiple misses) I recieved with my last project.... It wound up being 1 inch too short, but was repaired with a "weld on" extension.... 
MG Magic (the guy who bought all the CMC parts years ago) still has them listed:

The original CMC rod is 1/4" diameter.
The VS rod is 5/16"
My mirror fits better on the VS rod.
I done it a cheap way ! 12mm stainless bar ,bent at 90 & welded stainless bolt at other end

i slit a clear hose (the kind you use for windshield squirters) and put that under the rear view mirror clamp.
The fine gentleman from VS told me it is quite easy to break the glass when using the 5/16 rod. I broke the first rod the day I got the car by trying to lift my body weight out of the dam thing (two phony hips)using the windshield frame. I am having the seat moved back as far as possible and installing a quick release hub as soon as I find the correct supplier to correct my problem...but must repair my damage to the windshield....any advance advice from you would be appreciated. Can you be more specific about the information you need?
I am amazed you broke the 1/4" rod unless it broke at the hook.
I was very pleased with the rod I got from VS. It seemed to be better trimmed away at the hook compared to the CMC rod.
The original reason I replaced my CMC rod was so I could use the VS header center connection to the rod. The CMC rod didn't stick out far enough from the frame. for the connector.
