now u r really going to scare the **** out of vince
I had my 2004 IM repainted from dark blue to silver. A paint change won't harm the fibreglass.
You can paint fiberglass; the secret is the right materials and proper prep. Cost- $2,000? $3,000? $5,000? Depends on the condition of the car (the fiberglass itself, any cracks) , what paint, how much you do, how much they do....and Gerd is right, Vince is going to love it....

George Barris is selling at Barrett-Jackson auction later this month.
Gazi: awesome avatar. Very much in keeping with the style usually attempted on this board. My car was resprayed red (originally BRG) before I bought it. It's a TD but glass is glass. Any good auto paint shop can do the job and give you an estimate based on what you want.
Probably just a lot of sanding, but what do I know.
If there is cracking in the glass underneath then the old paint would have to come off, and how the shop does it would be up to them. If all you're after is a color change, then not necesarrily.
I've changed the colour on my car already and I'm about to do it again.
Nothing too it really, I wouldn't go as far as to taking it back to bare (metal...lol), flatting down the whole body, taking deep marks, scratches down further until clean fibreglass is found, shoot a layer of primer and then spray another colour.
Refering to the "crack(s)" being repaired...... Alan Merklin talked me through my body work and color change.... Cracks can be "paint deep" or deep into the fiberglass.... I had what appeared to be minor front end damage that turned out to be rather severe.... Had to gouge out each crack and lay in fibered patch compound, then sand smoothly to shape... I spent almost 10 weeks redoing the body, fabricating a tag light housing and dash "eyebrow",along with the first primer coat.... Dr. Clock actually gave me the color I used ("Aztec Gold") as I could not find anything to match what I wanted for the interior....(thanks Doc.) Its all about the time put into the job.... Paint cant hide body damage / inept repair... The color change its self is not that difficult with the body and interior stripped... Once again, time is money...
