I got mine from Griot's Garage and they were installed this winter and do dual duty as cup holders and covers for my old vent holes.  I can report that they are truly excellent.

I just stumbled on a cheaper source for the same thing that includes a little animation of how they work.  I don't l know why they included the little spin at the beginning of the animation.  They should have left that out and slowed it down instead.

With my black interior, these are pretty much invisible when installed.

Christian, no you can't flush mount them.  Mine are mounted on the lower kick pad area on the outboard bulkhead.  A Beck as a lot more room in this area than any other make.  This location was where my vents were before relocating them to the rear bulkheads for better heat performance.  I have black carpet and they blend in so well that I have to point them out to people. (In the photos, they're more visible because the door is open.  With it closed, they really blend in).

I take that back.  You could flush mount them if you cut a hole and recessed them, but that's not for me.  I looked a the fancy ones from Santana that Marty used, but I had no good spot to put them and they are a lot more expensive, although flush-mounted.

I used to have the $5 boat ones, but the spring loaded arms constantly flopped down right as I was trying to insert a bottle after taking a swig at a stop light.  They didn't stick out quite as much, but they royally pissed me off.

Yah, but, and... here's the thing about Lane's solution: It puts your drink right where you can reach it, whenever you want. It is completely removable instantly with no marring of any finish. And it says "Speedster" right on it.

From any engineering, ergonomic or aesthetic standpoint, Lane wins. The "free" factor is a bonus.

It's also the thing that prevents wider adoption of his solution, I think.

Lane: you should make up a "Speedster Cupholder Kit" and sell it for $20.99 per side, shipped.

This guy actually is selling his "ultimate cup holder" but offers the Fischer one as alternative where that won't work.  He also has a page that compares what is available on the market http://www.ultimatecupholders.com/competitors.html.

I like what I bought for my car, but it's a pretty comprehensive study for other applications, including a roll of duct tape and a tennis shoe wedged under the seat.

Since the the Hoopty is getting increasingly more civilized, it probably needs some cupholders.  I think the BCS ones would look bada$$ in the Hoopty.

For you newcomers, this is what you call thread drift.  We started talking about cup holders and are now dangerously close to a discussion on gun control.  All I know about that is "this is my rifle, this is my gun.  This is for fighting, this is for fun."  Rifle control is one thing, but my wife already has too much control over my gun.

Those have a cool kinda S&M vibe.  I like 'em.  I don't know what the reveals about me.

The look might not be right for a Speedster. But I think they work for the TD. The bonus is they are removable, and all that is left in your interior is the chrome bracket.

$19 a piece at:
