Hello to everybody,

Like so many of you I always had the dream to own a Porsche one day and all started in my childhood with a 356 Speedster. For me it was always the inspiration for working hard - one day being able to buy that car from Stuttgart. The area I live, the area I was born - close to the home of Porsche - my name is Lars and I live in the South of Germany.

Today I'm blessed having a wonderful wife and a cute little girl. Cars from Zuffenhausen I own since 15 years, currently a 991 Coupe S - so I'm a pretty happy guy. Happy until I was visiting one of my friends some days ago. My friend owns a Vintage Speedster and once I put my foot into this car it was done - the child hood dream was back - the 356 Speedster was right there again, driving my brain crazy since ever then.

After a short research I was finding JPS and had couple of calls with John - very very friendly man and helpful answering all my silly questions. So - last week I ordered a cream white / Tan Leather interior 356 Speedster. The car I vision will be classic, elegant.

Today I found this forum and I see in here are many others having the same interest. So I registered instantly and send a "hello" to all of you. Thanks for letting me participate from your experience with this wonderful little car.

Hello Everybody - many thanks for the warm welcome! I will keep you posted once the JPS is going into build.

@Troy - as you can think I checked many things regarding regulations, the biggest problem - there is no clear rule. Many things are not black or white by law. But I have planned to put my "lessons learned" down and make them available for followers. So - might be in half a year from now or even later but I will do that.

@Rich - I will make sure to read about your story - this sounds very very interesting and kind the story which makes us going!

I understand your desire to have one of these...and why you chose JPS... because I did !!!  Just one caution..my build started April 15....waiting is annoying...

I can appreciate all the joy of driving those great roads as I spent a year or so doing that in a VW back in the mid 60s...

Looking forward to sharing experiences with you.. the internet has changed everything !!!

Many thanks for the warm welcome: Tom, Alb, Wolfgang, Rich, Tub4Stu, DoubR, Terry

@Tom: Thanks for the Link - those guys are kind of far away from me. There are some dealers around Germany where you can find cars between 30 and 35.000€, ready to drive and fullfilling all registering demands.

@MusbJim: Thanks - I will make sure to send picture once the production has started

@bart: many thanks - but form what I understand you are having a Coupe in build?

@mtflyr: cool - wished I already have mine - enjoy it and have safe trips!

My only point of bringing them up is that they might be able to help answer registration questions since they register a variety of replicas in Germany.  I'm not recommending them for price or location.

Guten tag Lars!
The gentlemen at JPS are great, and the cars they build are exquisite!! I took delivery of my new JPS Speedster on friday..... 200 miles later, and I am having pains in my cheeks from excessive smiling!

Don't be shy about the details of your build. They are very patient through this process and really care about how you want the car to be.

I'm in the process of fine tuning and i just dropped my car at their garage today. I am sure I will see your car progress.

What engine did you get?

Good luck!!
The wait is the hardest part........

Right Lars, I am having a Coupe built and Koupes are Kool.....but the Speedsters are probably more fun in the sun and topless is always more fun...

I just have a preference for Porsche Coupes going back to the 60's.

I live in the Pacific Northwest and we have about 6 months of Roadster weather and the Coupes can be driven all year.

We will see how this turns out and maybe there will be a Speedster in my future.

I have a Base Cayman and a C2 993 Coupe, but I expect this will be a different experience.

As for any pictures of the build... I have nothing ...zip...nada...I have repeatedly asked for A picture and I get nothing.

That is annoying but not concerning.

I have talked to John on several occasions and exchanged a few emails and made the three scheduled payments (there are four) but that is it.

I think this could have gone better but it is what it is and I expect it will all turn out fine.

The wait is the worst.  I did my car build as a "winter build" @ Special Edition for a bit of a discount.  I ordered it in August and took delivery the following March.  I thought I was going to lose my mind.  S.E. is only 3.5 hours away from me, so I winter Natalie there and take the train home for $30 which brings me 15 minutes from home. I go through a little of the same withdrawal each winter.  However, I keep finding upgrades to do which makes the waiting a little sweeter and makes each season feel like I'm getting a new car.

Carey is REALLY good about sending photos and email correspondence.  I know that this hurts  operational efficiency, but it is greatly appreciated.  This is one of the many reasons that us Beck owners would go nowhere else for their cars.

When will your car be released? Why are the Coupe's taking so much longer?

Lars

I don't have a convertible Porsche, they are both coupes...I do have a Superformance 427SC Cobra to get wind and sunburns in and for "come to jesus" moments.

I have been to Germany, was over there in the 60's to watch the F1 and the Cobra's compete in sports car races...beautiful...all of it but especially the mountains.

I hope my JPS will be done this month or next...one reason it has taken this long is that the paint shop moved and held it up for 3 weeks.

If I ever have another car built, I will do as Tom Blankinship did, and have a winter build...I did that with the Cobra but the JPS order was impulsive.
