Ok, back to Speedster stuff. I have been reading everything I can find on the site re: drumskins.

I have drums on the rear, discs on the front. Adapters from 4 lug to wide 5 configuration, and obviously wide 5 wheels..

I seem to see conflicting information on whether drumskins for this set up are basically "plug and play" or would require some modification, and what the modification is and what is required to do it, i.e. can a guy with basic skills make the modification and what tools are required.

Appreciate any guidance.

Bob

Whether you go wide 5 all around or change it up to alloys, at least put discs on the front. With a 2110 in the back it would be a very smart idea... Al

Bob - I sneezed and that led me to needing a new exhaust on my new vs because my ears popped and realized I needed it to be louder than the a1 sidewinder.  I burped and that led me to gene bergs website and ordering there oil breather kit...  So yes something always leads to the next thing!  I have disc all around and wide 5 with skins and make my car very outlaw ish which was the look I wanted.

Bob-

You know-- I kinda' like the adapter look. I'll bet you could clean up the drums with a wire-wheel on a 4" angle-grinder and paint them with a rattle-can hammer-tone finish, and paint the castle-nut silver (or better yet, give it a cadmium coated finish with Eastwood's kit).

That'd butch that car right up.

If you wanted to go even more 1965 boy-racer, you could buy my steel wide-5s and powder-coat them silver, and keep your chrome wheels for showin' off on Sunday.

do i really need to answer this

Todd-

That's Paul laughing at you, not with you.

To answer the question, it's a piece of particle board. It looks a bit like granite in the pictures, but it's just a very cheap material you can find at any home improvement center or lumber-yard.

What I'm interested in is how the plug was cut. A hole-saw would've cut straight in-- and that's how I would probably do it, but cutting the hole with a hole-saw, and relieving the edge with a router. But that's not how he cut the hole, because the plug is the same shape.

I'm pretty sure you covered this Paul-- but I'm lazy this morning, and don't want to try to use the search feature. How'd you do it?

ok - i officially checked and there is no possible way that a drumskin will work with a 4lug to wide 5 adapter.  i have a set of extra adapters and i have one of my wheels off right now.

even with custom shallow lugs - you would still need to mcgyver something to buy more room under the drum skin.

For the record - it's 3/4" MDF, hole-saw'd, routed, stomped a-la-size 12, on my concrete sidewalk.
