What's the call on over all quality? When I was researching speedsters about 10 years ago, it seems to me that they were a pretty big name producer. What happened? Are they worth buying used today?

Ernie, do you mean "Classic Motor Carriages" aka CMC? If so, they are out of business and have been for some time. All but a very few, those you may have seen in airport lobbies, are home built cars and the value depends on the quality of the build.

Yes, I checked with the owner and, yes it it indeed a "CMC"... I just wonder about the quality of the body constuction in general.
Used shorten VW T1 platform. Fiberglass body has heavy perimeter steel channel frame. Body color gel coated so didn't need to be painted. FiberFab became CMC which is actually now StreeBeasts (still around). Mine still gelcoat but if I ever decide to paint I would refit doors for better gaps fit. No real probs with body --- all fiberglass has certain amount of ripples and panel shrinkage but CMC are all over 10 years old so shinkage probably all done by now! Check out the build manual in the library.
