Great forum... incredibly informative.
I'm new to the Speedster world but I have been "bitten by the bug" and I am now in the market to purchase a vehicle. Given that I'm New Hamsphire based, I was excited to see that Classic Speedsters was located in my neck of the woods. I have spoke with Bill Shields and was attempting to set up a meeting to see his shop and test drive one of his vehicles.... after seeing the posts on this site... I won't plan to visit.
I do know that Diane has a silver flare body (won 1st
place in the 11th annual Hyannis Fathers Day car show) that is for sale... she's asking $25K.
On a side note... there was an IM Speedster on display at the local Concord, NH Market Days event a couple of weeks ago. It was the first and only Speedster I've seen in NH. Great looking vehicle.
I'll be sure to post again... I have lots of questions.

Where is Diane anyway? One post and we scared her off.

ED, It appears Diane is busy trying to sell her Speedster. Be interesting to find out the particulars on it!

Darren, check the classifieds forum here; there's an Intermeccanica Speedster (probably the best you can buy) for sale in your neck of the woods for $11K which sounds like a great deal; might be worth the trouble to check it out.
Ricardo,
That's not a new Intermeccanica from Henry's company (which is so highly praised today). That is a 20+ year old pan based Intermec. I would seriously inspect any replica that is getting that old, especially for 11K, which seems a bit high, unless it's in perfect condition.

Still, even though pan based, I've heard that they're very, very good.
I emailed "Diane" a few weeks ago and asked her to respond in the SOC thread and she basicly repied like she had no idea what I was talking about

The one I had WAS very good- nice fit and finish despite it's age- and the only reason I no longer have it was involuntary crash testing. :)

That's a very nice watch! All I've picked up recently is one from Burberry, a Zodiac Sea Wolf and a Tissot V-8- all chronos of course.

Hi Rick!! Great to see you online. Hope you're enjoying that yellow screamer.
Gordon, I'll miss Hebert's as I'm in Orlando for a few weeks. I used to take the tub there on summer Thursdays a few summers back. A lot of nice American cars from 32 Fords up to 60's muscle cars was on display. My flared tub got a lot of folks stopping by as it was unique. I'm glad that John got his car. He looked at mine last summer, but the wife scotched the deal as she wanted him to wait until his retirement was finalized.
Enjoy the meet!!

I purchased a Vintage Flared Body from Classic in 2000; I have had four great years with the car with very few problems. In conversations with other I have heard the same complaints with Classic as are listed here. My experience with Classic was very ordinary, viewed and test drove a car he had in stock, and negotiated a sale we were both happy with. The few times I needed to speak to Bill I found it difficult to get him on the phone. I had a problem with my headlight cans that Bill just would not address. I called Kirk at Vintage and he could not have been more helpful, he sent me new updated cans at no charge. Bill on his own volunteered to get me updated carbs, he never did. Overall I did not have the problems with Classic that others had, I certainly would have liked the new carbs, but I basically got what I paid for, no frills but no nightmares either. Jay:
Email me privatly at the address on the left - I'm over in Tiverton and would like to meet up with you (there is also John Estes in Matunuck and Sal in Barrington, RI)
I dropped by Classic about a month ago and found that they didn't have any time to speak with me - curious, as they weren't especially busy that day, either!
