I found out the importance of a clean air cleaners today when after having my 2110 start to backfire and pop upon deceleration. I thought that tweaking the air mixture jets I could solve the problem. After multiple adjustments nothing helped. In a final grasp I took off the air filters to see if the carbs were in snyc. As soon as I took off the air cleaners the problem quit.
Should have replaced them sooner but like a lot of us that only put a few miles each week things seem to slip by. Dumb mistake that I won't make again.

I learned the same thing with the Red Man, although in my case it's both the air cleaner and the mass air flow sensor.  When these parts get dirty, you have to deal with surging, poor idle, lack of power and sooty exhaust.  Several parts were replaced before this simple maintenance procedure was performed.  Lesson learned!
