I wonder if he's parked the car yet.
New engine runs very good. It has a more torque and you can really feel the power when you put your foot in it. The sound it makes when accelerating is just awesome. Everyone on the street and in their cars is looking to see where it is coming from. Ran very cool yesterday. Temps outside were 80 plus and it never went past 25% on the gauge. Still need to spend more time with it, but so far I like it. Roland promised to send me a clutch softening kit; the Kennedy clutch is a workout and takes some getting used to.

Looks like 82 and Sunny Friday so the speedys is going to work to get more break in time on the new engine. I'll take the long way of course. I'll takes some pics in the am too.
Let us know what a clutch softening kit is.
Roland, chime in when you see this. He said it also helps protect the cable.
I'm no expert on theses cars by any stretch of the imagination, but I think the clutch softening kit adds a pulley type of throw on the clutch cable rear of the bowden tube.
Marty, sounds like you're having fun with your new powerplant! Be safe!

Roland set me up with the clutch kit. It works great, feels like a stock one. It's a pully system that bolts to the tranie and the cable goes around it. Good to hear your engine is what you wanted.
Yeah Mark I am in Speedster Heaven. The power is more for bragging than dragging, but it's there when you need it. Jim, you know more than you let us believe. I think the motor holds seven quarts of oil. This setup cruising down PCH-1 would just be incredible. I'll try to get some sound up later.

Marty, that engine might just be the prettiest girl in school.
I know it's not a Type IV (my personal favorite), but she sure is pretty.
Follow Roland's guidelines on breaking her in!

Very nice. I love the billet air filter covers, but you might want to consider some sort of rain hat. Letting them gulp in rainwater is a pain. Ask me (and Kelly) how I know. Maybe you can do something in clear plexiglass so they're still visible.

GUY'S
The clutch softening kit is a pulley system that changes the ratio of the pedal and arm . It sell's for about $40.00 , what I like about it is it take's the stress off the clutch tube when you run a heavy clutch. Anybody that's been around vw 's know's about clutch tube breakage with big clutch's.

Marty - all I know is, you cruising in that bad-ass wide-body Speedster with Sandy throwing out the vibes makes YOU the COOLEST DUDE in Chicago (even more so than M. Jordan)!!
Thanks Roland, I guess I missed Alan's link above.

looks great Marty!
Where did you get that engine bay seal? the top one that seals the decklid - it is exactly what i am looking for.

Paul, that is stock from Vintage Speedsters.
A short Porsche Symphony.
Marty - definitely looks you are having fun with your upgraded ride! NICE!
Jim, just livin the dream. Keeping it clean and trying to have a little fun. That's what its all about anyway. We drove over 100 miles yesterday including a jaunt to downtown Chicago. I have to say we must of looked pretty cool cat and mousing down the expressway with the tops down and some sharp looking ladies in the right seats(the wives of course). It ran cool and crisp. The only downfall to the new performance is Fuel Economy. Its hard to drive this thing slow. May need to look into a bigger tank:)

Marty---I just saw the video you posted---can't get over the sound your engine makes---excellent!
What exhaust did you go with?----Jack
Thanks Jack,
Your hearing the 911 and the speedster together. But the speedster by itself sounds great too. I use Ceramic Coated A-1 Sidewinder's and a Magnaflow Muffler. Dansk High Performance Heater Boxes.
