Best practice is to pull the motor. As Rick says, the two rear ones in the bellhousing are easily replaced. Once you have them loose/removed, slide the trans back an inch and replace the front mount. You can slide the trans rearward a bit without removing the axles whether swing or IRS. Put a floor jack under it, it only weighs 75 pounds or so.

If you find the trans nosecone is broken(this does happen) they are available new. There are variations and you'll need the correct replacement depending on pan and trans year.

I just replaced mine in my stock 1966 bug.  Pulled engine, rears were no sweat. Front required a little prying and encouragement after loosening clutch cable and shifter coupling. Popped the old one out and put the new one in.  Not a hard job, just time consuming. Replaced clutch disk and throw out bearing while I had the engine out.
