I have to adjust my clutch cable on my Speedster (69 Beetle), and was wondering if while I am under there can I replace the two nuts with a single wing nut? Or would that require a whole new cable? It seems as though I could, but just thought I would ask the pro's! :-)

Thanks,
Mark
If I remember right, older VWs have the double nuts and newer ones have the wing nut.

On the cars using the wing nut the arm has a football shaped opening the wing nut fits into to keep it from turning.

If your arm does not have this football shaped opening, you should continue using the double nut system. It might be possible to swap arms if you really want the wing nut. I don't know if they are interchangeable.

There used to be available a pair of special ratcheting wrenches to use on the special nuts. I don't know if you can still get them.
