I don't mean the piece bolted to the floor that stops the brake and clutch pedals.

I just discovered that some clutch pedals have a little arm the extends forward near the top of the pedal. It hits the "firewall" when the clutch pedal is depressed.

My clutch pedal doesn't have this.

Is it important?

Am I depressing the pedal too much without it?
