As much as I appreciate constructive criticism , I take offense in your comments implying I'm hiding something. I am an honest individual trying to sell a well sorted 356 speedster that is clean and priced at a fair price. You would be hard pressed to build a vehicle like this for this price.

PARANOIA will DESTROYA....lighten up PAL...these gentlemen like to see a proper and clean presentation, largely with everything up front with all questions answered before they are asked......which suggests honesty and integrity. Anything less appears or suggests a ruse with convenient facts left out.....after all this is an OWNERS CLUB of serious techies and educated, experienced owners and NOT the general public.

From what I can see, it looks good and is fairly priced.

But the thing is... I can't really see anything but a very few pictures of the car taken from the front in a one stall garage. You have 3 pictures that are for all purposes identical, and one of the interior where it's hard to see if it has seats or not. It's hard to understand why you didn't take the time to back it out of the garage, clean your cell-phone lens, and snap off a few decent pictures.

There's no way to know if that's gel-coat or paint. Does it have a top (there's not one in the pictures)? I presume the interior is black, but what kind of seats? I assume the engine is a 1600, but is it smaller? Bigger?

I don't think you are being dishonest, but I also think a prospective buyer is probably going to want to have a bit more to go on, $15K price or not.

Good luck.

And yet another example of how unwelcome a person may be received  when he simply presents his car at his own pace in his own style in offering it for sale here.

And guys who most likely have no intention of buying the car are only too happy to criticize how the car is presented.  Based on what has been posted by the seller - were I interested - I would simply contact him and ask for more details.

To me, that would be the proper way to do things, but not on this site.

You might want to listen to Stan's and other's suggestions and act on them.

This is different than posting on says, Craig's list, as many here really know the ins and outs of these cars.

If you could provide specific details about the car, drive train, brakes, suspension as well as good photos of all six sides of the car, the front and aft of the undercarriage and the interior, indicating material (vinyl, leather etc.), paint condition and any significant blemishes, and tire wear, the dash and the speedo indicating mileage, and pics of those extra wheels, the engine bay and the front trunk, that might generate some real interest, real fast.

You have some people's attention here, so take advantage and build on that!

Good luck with the sale and the new home purchase

I think the rub is that he joined yesterday and posted the car yesterday. Nobody knows him or his car so there is zero established trust and trust is important in a community like this.

Just my 2 bits

Sorry, you misunderstood what I was trying to point out. Take the time to make a more attractive ad to sell your car.

Look at Therons two ads at the top of our home page.

I agree. Unfortunately this is the usual SOC treatment an unsuspecting 'outsider' can expect to receive when they post their hobby car (replica Speedster) for sale on here not knowing the proper SOC procedure and without the use of a Hasselblad camera.

I believe the seller Hoppi914 listed his phone number. But what fun would that be to simply call him at that number for more details or pics (as any serious buyer would). Oh wait, then we couldn't publicly flog the person and display our superior replica Speedster knowledge.

I think the experience would be similar for a knucklehead extraordinaire like me going on JEOPARDY.

I'm with you Jim, however it is easy to sound snarky in a post without the intent. I certainly have been guilty of that on occasion and extend my apologies again for past and probably future sins.

I hope it is helpful to the uninitiated though, to provide some pointers on what seems to work on this and other sites.

Troy and Alan seem to be masters at it.

Sounds like Hoppie914 has his hands full.
