Hi everyone I'm new here so bare with me. I'm selling my speedster it was in a storage unit in Miami from 1988 til this Jan disassembled. I received it Feb and completed it with every possible high end part available. It has 4 wheel discs from Socal, 17" billet wheels from Vintage, lowered, roll bar, harnesses (real ones), 1835cc w 44 IDFs, 250 shot of nitrous, Race fuel pump, all -6 stainless lines and fittings, rancho trans, all autometer gauges and adjustable shift light, billet steering wheel with wood inlays, billet black mamba short shift, decklid grill replaced with inlaid glass similar to a ferrari 360 s engine cover. The car has 119 miles on the odometer I never registered it just drove to the deli and back. Have a little boy now and no time to enjoy this piece of automotive art. Asking $24,500. thx..-mike

the nitrous has several different jets I believe we installed the 75hp jets. Have them all in a bag every size up to 250. Never used it bottle has never been filled. The cmc decklid was a sealed unit I had to open the back of it up. No different then a solid desklid on a standard beetle. Having no luck with photos uploading on my phone give me a little bit I just got in Ill try on my laptop.
Boy I gotta be honest this is probably the worst venue to sell my speedster all this talk about the car is making me want to keep it AND build another one...lol. The chassis is a 70 superbeetle however the frame head was cut off and an adjustable beam was installed with some over engineered heavy steel kit I've never seen or heard of before but was par for the course apparently in the 80's. The wheels I had kurt at vintage speedster help me with...his widebody's are the right height and stance with these wheels and his buddy's 4 wheel disc package taking all the guess work out of it. I'm not gonna lie though this being a cmc and not a vintage I was extremely nervous that there could ve been differences in the body molds and his package wouldn't fit but in the end it worked out perfect. How many widebodies have we all seen that have the such ridiculous rear fender gap that its possible to adjust the valves without getting under the car? Kurt is the go-to guy. The convertible cover I made from a kit from vintage super easy to do. As for engine compartment ventilation there s a lot more air movement back there than on a bug. I also installed an external oil cooler under the dr side rear fender with electric fan to help with the heat. We did a lot of tuning and testing the needle never passed 175...Although if I were to hit the track I would definitely run without the decklid for cooler air intake at the staging area. God if it wasn t 36 degrees out Id probably take it out today all arrows point to keeping it!
@schu the wheels are 17x9 tires are 40 series...black mamba shifter is great short throws and super clean look. Just wish they made an ebrake in billet it looks out of place in stock form. The orange 77 vert is my buddy's turbocharged and fuel injected 2275 superbeetle. Its an engineering marvel and goes like a bat out of h*ll. Yet it looks like my neice could own it.lol.
Haha yes I know these cars give you instant James Dean status....it takes me an hour to get coffee at the local deli with this car and 5 mins with my pick up. Everybody loves speedsters and has to ask about it. Truth be told I'm only selling this to generate some space in my garage my 14 month old boy(first kiddo for us) has more crap ie strollers, walkers, jumpers, you get the idea, than I have space for. I'm selling my AMG as well this whole parenting thing is more heartbreaking than I was told but totally worth it. My boy loves the speedster if my other car sells first I ll probably lean towards keeping it or at the very least build another once the smoke clears.
