I noticed some differences between the assembly in my car and those in the builder's manual that came with it; I think mine are bone stock VeeDub with CMC's aluminum trim plates on the trailing edge of the doors.
Fellas, correct me if I'm wrong, but you can remove the locking mechanism from the VW latch and still use the armature which leads to the escutcheon. The part I think you'll need is the aluminum plate thingie.
I'll pattern what's left of mine if that's the case, and send dimensions. Otherwise, some of these guys will probably know if other makes' plates will work.
I've taken out the parts I don't need anymore and sent them to one of our comrades in New York. I'm going to use levers on the top edge of the door at the front, not the outside handles or escutcheons.
