Ok... I took my CMC to a reputable fiberglass guy that was going to fill my 2" gauge holes in so I could run "correct" gauges. He's a sharp guy, and called today. "Your dash is done, and looks great"... " these 3 gauges can't fit in this dash...period. He just said they won't fit. There is not enough room".  Is the CMC dash not large enough to put "factory" gauges like one would buy at Beck, VS, etc... the aftermarket gauges? Man... I hope it is something simple he is overlooking. I will take the trailer tomorrow in my 1 hour drive to go look. Thanks, Keith

Honestly, I never looked. I mailed the gauges right to him. I was hoping to pick the car up with 3 large holes ;(. He said its going to be too close... Well. Some pics I've seen look like the gauges almost touch the hood and each other. Perhaps he was just too nervous that there would only be 3/16" fiberglass between the gauge holes/ gauges. Which seems thin for him, but I think that's normal.

I just went out to the garage and measured the distance between the gauges on my CMC. I'm also runnung 914 gauges mounted in the factory gaskets. There is no more than 1/8" between the gaskets and the the top of the tach and sides of the other gauges are almost touching the eyebrow. I thought the same at first, as your body-man when I reworked my dash. There is not a lot of material between the holes.

Templates cut the size of the gauge cut outs could be double sided taped to dash to visualize spacing - remember bezel will add to finished spacing.  You could also elongate the dash eyebrow mounting holes and perhaps slide it up for more room (maybe 1/4" total).  If the large 914 gauges (tach mostly) fit - 356 gauges will too.  Also consider size of you steering wheel which could obstruct view of gauges.
