This is a just started CMC Kit. I have an almost complete kit and rolling pan with a title from a 70 VW. The pan was shortened by a VW shop and looks great. New floors front to back. The body was a black gel but has some weathering so would need to be painted. I have installed the lights and the door latches. It is missing a deck lid. I have a white trunk lid. Other parts that I have assembled are gauges, a windshield assembly ( could use new gaskets), wooden wheel, leather seats, front disc brakes, and a complete wiring harnass.

I also have the black interior and carpet less the dash vinyl.

What is missing: some brackets and hardware, a top frame and the time to put it together.

I have about $6,500 in it so that is what I am asking.

Car and pan are inside in Northern VA.

The new engine that I got put in my 911 was way over budget, so I decided something would need to go. If not the kit then at least one of the 914. But I'm still hooked and looking for a 550 kit. I'd even trade the good running 914 for one of those.

Working on some photos. Just need to determine how to attach them to the site. The good news is that there are now three running toys in the barn.

Gary
Steve - You said Gary's profile but perhaps you mean mine? Gary's for sale speedster - looks just like mine (he couldn't post photo's due to size so I helped him out by posting). I went with fellow FL Speed Owner to pick that up from DrClock sometime ago. Its shown on my unfinished black speedster and looked like a pretty good fit - 'cept my windshield is not firmly attached yet. Its in FL now - goal is to nodify it to fit wide range of Speedsters and then "cast" a dozen or so it fiberglass for resale. I know its on his list of things to do. I'm in line for one! I found ad (RustyTubs) on SAMBA other day for the plexiglass rear windscreen to fit what looked like identical (unmolested) hardtop --- gulp, $295 just for plexiglass.

Back to Gary's post - I've seen his CMC. He's got a complete collection of parts (save the engine lid which RustyTubs does have - even one with louvers). His chassis has been professionally shorten with new pans - he recently installed disc front brakes. $6500 is good deal as the bare kit with no chassis/engine/wheels/trans was $8k back in 1990.
