Hello Art, there is some adjustment on the door hinges, if you just loosen the bolts a little on the door side you will find the door can be moved a bit. On my car the leading edge of the door at the bottom was chafing a bit and I was able to align and pull the door back towards the jam side (striker) this way. I also found that the gap at the rear of the door was out of wack where the top gap was larger than the bottom. This I corrected by lifting and bracing the rear ie typical CMC but sag.

Thanks Michael, the bolts are a huge phillips head. I went to Home Depot but nothing that size, I'll try a couple of auto supply stores in the morning.

Adjusting a CMC door is easier thatn it appears, loosen screws then use one screw to tighten and confirm the door will still latch, ( the jamb latch can also be moved by elongating the mounting holes) after you get a basic door alignment then tighten the rest of the screws.  

Alan, thanks, tightening one screw to check, makes a lot of sense, and I wouldn't have thought of it.

Harbor Freight near by?  They have a impact kit that includes a large phillips.  Whack it with a hammer and it twists just a bit to loosen the bolts/screws.  Or try Sears.

I would get an impact driver from Sears or Car Quest.  One of the guys in my Beaufort car club got one from harbor freight and it wasn't up to the task.

On my last CMC I just used a really big Phillips screwdriver and gave it a good rap on the end with a ball peen hammer to free the threads while I was twisting the handle - then it would turn just fine.

Gordon and Wolfgang, you read my mind.  Went to Sears and got a #4 Phillips driver for my ratchet wrench. OOPs wrong size back to Sears for a #3 phillips. Worked great thanks to all for the help.
