I am in the process of finishing a CMC wide body project - the 40 hr version . The drivers side body is about 1/2" lower than the passenger side in the front. I know this because the front brace in front of the gas tank is not level. My question, is the subframe bolted to the body when it is a new purchase? This project was purchased new in 1988 and the body/subframe was already bolted to the 1969 frame. Should I drill out the rivets to level it? The frame appears level and not bent.

Thank you

are you sure it's the body that is the issue?  adjusting the rear suspension one side can totally change how the car sits front/back/side to side.

i have adjustable rear spring plates and tweaking them a little does all kinds of cool stuff.

the front support under the gas tank can easily be adjusted too.

if i had to guess (without looking at it), i'd say the suspension was out a little front and or rear

I just looked at the orginal bill of sal and it states it is a speedster c for $6995, so I have to guess that was not the deluxe kit? It has all pop rivets holding the body to the subframe. Is it safe to say it was riveted by the original builder and it almost looks like it was not "square" when the body was riveted to the subframe? The head of the rivets are the size of a quarter.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, I will check again to see if the front or back needs to be adjusted.

I was going to sell this project and buy a completed speester, but I recently missed a deal on a great looking speedster. Now I have the "drive" to complete this one.
