I have recently purchased a CMC 1957 Flared Speedster and the suspension is sagging on the rear end. The shocks are completely shot. I have removed the shocks but can find no markings on them to determine what they are and what I should replace them with. I have no idea what year Bug was the donor for this car. Any suggestions on what shocks I should use to replace both the front and rear shocks with would be greatly appreciated. Also any modifications that you could recommend for other supension improvements would be appreciated. I also have no idea what engine(not running) is installed in it but I will address that in a later post.

Thanks for any input in advance.

Craig,

Try researching the VIN first.

Secondly, If thCar is IRS, the vehicle could be 69-79 (Beatle/Ghia/Type 3. King Pin & Ball Joint Front Ends could also identify the age not to mention Disc or Drumb Brakes.

Contact, George (registered owner), knows more about this issue then most and routinely helps/assists owners regarding questions.

Best Regards,

Jack Blake
