I am a newer supporting member within the past year.   I found a 10-year-old post that had many members requesting a template of the CMC seats, so they can re-upholster their own seats.

There was a ton of interest and talk of creating some form of a template and posting it in the Library of supporting member contents.  When I look in there, I am either not seeing it, or it isn't there.

Can anyone help me to either find those templates or acquire one for the seats? (Or also: floor mats, carpet, interior cloths, etc...)

Either way... thanks for reading.

Bob

I've been around here for sometime and haven't seen seat cover templates. I have done a few free hand carpet installs on flared street rod style speedsters. I buy a 8' x 12' roll of indoor outdoor carpet (ebay $130 and a lot is left over) ) 5 cans of 3M Super 90 spray adhesive for $70.  The carpet somewhat replicates square weave. I don't have carpet templates but it is easy to follow from a few photos ( I roll over and glue 1/2" inch along all exposed edges . Mats are basically the same method.

Since it uses a VW pan (just shortened ~10-11") any VW bug floor mats will fit.  Years ago I bought coco mats from JC Whitney and they fit well.  The rear mats aren't of much value though.

I've never seen templates for the seat covers.  The covers are very plain and simple though.  I've yet to finish the covering of mine - lipstick red has lost its zing for me.

Your getting old, if lipstick is uninteresting

Hey Bob....

I am in the same boat, and will be taking i my speedy for paint in the near future.  I will be doing the seats and carpet as well.  Where do you live? I have a great shop in Tijuana that does excellent work and is very reasonable.  I am a fan of Allante vinyl and will be using it on the door panels, seats and dash top.

I live in the Detroit Metro area.  Lucky for me my seats are in decent shape, I just wanted to make a custom cover for each... that possibly had an old tartan or plaid pattern for the center seat and seat back strip.  Perhaps once you're done with the shop in Tijuana, you could let me know how it goes...  or even see if they'll let you keep your old seat materials for membership templates (Just spitballing & thinking out loud here, no pressure at all sir).

Bob, did you get your moniker from your city?  Just kidding.  So glad the city is looking up I keep not going the Woodward cruise, I have relatives in the burbs.

Actually I got my name from another lifetime ago... when I used to play Quake, Doom and other first-person shooter computer games. You could say I used to be lethal .  The name kind of stuck over the years...  now it seems almost silly as I will be turning 50 this September.  lol

Shoot.....   We used to play “Space Invaders” on “Tymnet” (McDonald Douglas owned it) on an IBM 360/168 back in the ‘70’s, then got a sharp intern to write a version of “Pong” in Fortran to run on the IBM, too (the paddles were moved with Keyboard keys).

Later moved up to “Adventure”, “Quest” and “D&D” and then grew out of it when PCs came along in the 1980’s (and by that time I was managing my group so video games were less cool).

My son has all of the old Atari games he grew up with running on an emulator on his Macbook for something to do on long flights.  They still don’t excite me.  I just load up a bunch of movies on my iPad and head TSA.......

I remember wasting computer cycle playing ZORK on an DoD IBM Mainframe back in 1970's (and programming (via wire jumpers on a bread board) a UNIVAC 1004 )).  We used to punch card decks that would play music via core memory magnetic flow and also on the "hi-speed" impact line printer.   Attended several Pentagon lectures by Admiral Grace Hopper on real computer bugs (moths stuck in relays).
