So guys--if CMC offered a crank type window system for their molds are there any owners out there that would permit a competent mechanic to make a copy of the components and window so that someone could create window systems for the masses?

I've read that they are from a Chevy Chevette (not Corvette) - I haven't seen one of those in ages. The mechanism is easy - use hot rod power window kit. The taller windshield frame, windshield, top bows and top will be costly additions. I suspect the top bows are set back further too so another hole in body will be needed. Was $895 option with purchase of car back in 1988.

You can do roll up's if you are in a build situation, windshield has to be moved back 1/2" and the entire process is very labor intensive
I owned A CMC Cabriolet some years ago with a Mazda Rotary engine. I didn't know much about these cars and sold it off after owning it a year or so. If I would have known what I had was hard to come by I would have kept it. I didn't care for the whale tail. I could have changed it out I guess. When I bought the Fiberfab I have now it was because I had been wanting a speedster again ever since selling the Cabriolet.

OldYeller (in NC) did this years (2008) ago using OEM cabriolet parts. A real D windshield frame and folding top assembly. I do have the rough plans that he sent me attached. Those OEM parts seem prohibitively expensive nowadays. Rough parts would be $10+k. It isn't for the faint of heart - moving windshield back and cutting doors.
Here is a link to a Cab folding roof frame - only $12,500!

So where did the original plans go to? Someone/Somewhere could had held onto the plans and drawings for the windows--hey? When the created the CMC with windows--didn't they use the same mold, windshield etc?
It's the same body mold but the windshield posts, frame and glass are all different (along with complete top assembly). The D windshield posts are mounted further back too than on a Speedster. I wonder if the doors were already modified with the glass installed (by CMC). I know not many wind-up optioned CMCs were sold (kit was $8k and the windows option added another $900) - suspect that's why it isn't in their build manual (?).
Here's a creative alternative - kind of la twist on the UK Chesil solution.
