It’s come up a number of times about the visual differences between real and replica.
I attended a Cars and Coffee event yesterday with a good friend in his Spyder. The 46-degree temps made for a rather chilly top-down experience, but we got by. I don’t know if it was the lack of sleep or coffee, but at one point on the highway cruise I looked down at my temperature gauge and could swear I saw it sticking the middle finger at me.
Anyway, a gentlemen parked his early ‘57 speedster next to me. It was great seeing the two in such close proximity to gauge the visual differences between the two. The both of us went through each other’s cars to see all the little nuances. It was fun. It was also fun seeing the people look at both cars. They saw the visual differences but asked which is real and which is replica. To their defense, I did have my driving gloves on the parking brake, the obvious tell-tale sign.
I’ve often heard that the replica windscreen was located further forward than the original, but this was the first time I noticed just how much. It’s not a lot, but definitely noticeable when the two are parked 2’ apart.
