Last week, I finally got around for trying to fit my new Colgan bra. It was a nice sunny, warm day, so I figured it would be no problem. I didn't even come close to getting it on. I appeared to be way too narrow and there also seemed to be a problem with the two retaining clips on each side. It appeared that with the headlight opening properly aligned, the lower clip actually seemed to be BELOW the body.

Could I impose on somebody who has one to check some things for me? What I would like to have is the following information:

1. distance between the clips, trailing edge of the top to leading edge of the bottom.

2. Distance between the headlight openings

3. Verify part number: PR-6.1.2 (I think the second two numbers are are options) This is for a 356A not a 356.

Before I call Colgan and read them the riot act, I would like to make certain of these items.
Thanks guys,
Hoss

Did you get the one with all the various cut-outs for bumpers, license plate and running lights? I sent mine back. There were too many 'standard' dimension cut-outs that my car didn't meet!

My recollection is the clip and stretchy cord were taxed at the top and barely at the bottom of the fender wells. It stayed in place OK and the headlamps were peaking through just fine.

Are you not getting that far?

The cut-out for the license plate acted as an additional hold-down on mine and created some top-to-bottom tension as I snapped it up.

Dimensions to follow
Thanks Paul. Dimensions would be appreciated. I have no cutouts at all since there are no running lights, no overriders and no front plate. TN has rear plates only :-) Perhaps I'm not pulling hard enough, but it looks to me like a VERY long stretch would be required. I think Biggs said he had help (another pair of hands) to put his on. Perhaps I can enlist the support of sweet bride if we get another warm day (and the dimensions are correct).
Thanks again,
Hoss
When mounting any vinyl piece (like bra, tonneau, seat cover or top) they should be laid out in warm sun for several hours so they will stretch. When installing a top they often use a heat gun/hair dryer to make more flexible. Once inplace - it will stretch more -- and then shrink a bit when it gets wet. (NOTE - water/moisture under the vinyl and hot sun can/will cause paint to blister up!)
Hey John,

For a less than scientific approach as we go forward, there is about 36" between my headlamps. Each headlamp is approximately 9" at its widest point.

As was mentioned, warming the bra is really important and I won't go any further with that observation.

My bra for my old roadster had no cutouts save the headlamps and the elastic cords were always tensed on the uppers, so much so that they showed a couple inches each side and made little rubbing marks on the fenders...

Maybe you should contact Dale Bates for an update on his plexiglas
F-151 unit!
John, I have a Cooligan bra on 58 Speedster. Fits fine, has cut outs for bumper guards and parking lights. You really have to pull hard on the clip to stretch the elastic cord out. Also, bend the clip slightly around the fender edge once the lower part of bra is in place. Same proceedure for the top clips.
