Color choice for new speedster...

I really want to paint my soon to be mine 57' Flared Speedster Yellow w/ black leather interior.

Is that bad? I mentioned my color choice to a local vintage Vw friend today and the look on his face made me want to post here to either be told im stupid or be told to do it..

Any pics of yellow speedsters?

Cory, it's going to be your car so paint it any color that suits your fancy. It is easy to get hung up on "correct" colors and even correct colors for a certain year, but suppose those limited choices don't float your boat? You are the one who has to be happy, right?

That's like asking Boxers or briefs.... Yellow is now more popular on new cars than ever but, trendy colors fade in time (no pun intended) and they become less desirable.

Cory, IMHO I think the Yellow and Blk combo looks awesome for a flaired setup.
Check out poor Rick's pics "VS FiberglassFlambe" look in his photo archive.

An Orangie Yellow and Light Grey combo looks sporty too! It's your choice, you'll be the one driving and they will be wishing they had one!

If you have doubts about the mustard yellow, think about something softer like a primrose. That would look more period correct (if that's a consideration) and still have the bright character. In the end though, as everyone else has said, it's you who has to be happy with the color, not someone else.

Good color pick, Cory, in my humble opinion. Do what suits, but use a reputable shop if you're not doing it yourself. Make sure you get the UV protectant, too.

Get on the internet and go to collector car trader on line (cctol)
pick on exotics,then pick on browse by make, then pick on porsche, then pick the year 1957. There's a yellow and black flared for sale in Florida. You can see exactly what your car will look like.

I think yellow looks great on a Speedster or, for that matter, on a Spyder too.

If I were going that route I would pick one of these colors. In person their colors are just 100% wicked! Plus you might be the 1st Speedster with Lambo paint!

thanks for the replies. Im now convinced that i am going to do yellow w/ black.

I wanted to find a porsche yellow color maybe from a newer model even but ill worry about that later.
