Just curious if there have been any studies on which speedster colors bring the highest dollars. In the past few weeks we have seen 2 Auratium Green cars go for 65k and 75.5k and that does not include commission. I remember February 2022 one going for 68. COMMENTS?

RESALE RED ??
Not exactly 356 specific, but at least it's talking about Porsches:

And I know I should not be surprised, but it varies quite a lot by geography.
That's most popular. How about greatest resale value.
Greatest resale value.... a guy named Tucker who gets a name change...
I had a Purple speedster years ago that didn't get any sales interest. My wife suggested I advertise it as Aubergine. It sold the next week with more than one offer.

Lol
In related Aubergine news: I once listed my Sprint Veloce for $3500 on the Alfa BB site and got nothing but low ball “parts car” offers. The site admin PM’d me and suggested I ask $10K. I’m glad I didn’t. They’re being offered for $20-$30K now. I’m glad I gave it to my son instead.
^^^THAT^^^
Is priceless.
Sounds a lot better than “Egg Plant”

Yeah, I never got that. The automotive color is way more brown than the vegetable.
In my experience, the silvers and ivory colors have the best and quickest resale. I personally prefer the more odd original colors, or even some of the crazy GT car colors, and while they seem to do well they tend to take a little longer to sell, or they just take that "right person".
What I really don't quite understand is the lack of vision that so may people have. I've LITERALLY had someone say things like "man, I'd buy that immediately if only it had moon hubcaps", slap on some moons and they are amazed...

They may not be very many people's absolute favorite, but they're not polarizing colors. Everybody talks about "resale red", but I really don't want a red car unless it's Italian. Red keeps me from even considering almost everything. I love Slate Gray, but there are people who think it looks like primer. Stone Gray is one of the most polarizing colors I can think of. I think it's gorgeous, other folks think it looks like split pea soup.
Almost nobody HATES silver or cream.
I love Kevin's GREEN ONE !!!!! Also CREAM with big whitewalls ! AND Gregs Blue one!
What color makes my wavey bodywork look straight ???
I built a “pure white” VW bus that would make your eyes bleed !
that was ok as it got a lot of lettering by McPeak which broke up the the white glare .

I like non-traditional (cars) and colors.
Kevin's green, Greg's Blue, I liked the dark green that Tory had on a Super Wide. Stone grey is nice. If I'm going to have a replica or Outlaw, I'm not too concerned with traditional or historically correct ones.
To me, there's an age component, too. I feel like I'm too old to carry off red or wide-body.

Oh, black by all means. Black hides every flaw and always looks clean. 5 years from now, your black car will almost for sure look like the day you bought it. Black is so easy, it's almost like not trying.

I've actually been working on a widebody for a few years now. My doctor isn't happy.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Gee, I didn't realize I might be too old for my red Speedster.
Almost 3/4 of the Porsche 968s were Red, White, or Black. I’ve noticed that people new to Porsche or, especially transaxle Porsches, prefer those colors. People who know like the crazy ones like Magenta, Mint, or Amazon Green.
Never thought I'd own a black car, but I have for nearly 12 years now and it still looks good. Maybe it take a little more effort, but I tend to do that anyway.
@Michael McKelvey You're younger and/or cooler than me; neither is a challenge.
I owned a black 95 Miata for 21 years. Loved black and was looking for black replica. Just got dumb lucky finding a 57 Auraitium Green Replica a year ago. I just am blown away by the comments about the color.
Seal Grey Metallic , Black, Auqamarine blue metallic, Slate Grey and Auritium Green these are the colors we keep building again and again.

That color makes me weak in the knees.
@wrkinprogress, I don't know about cool. But, I recently realized that I could rightly be called elderly. Also, with my last birthday, I entered a new decade and it isn't a comfortable fit yet.
@Stan Galat I don't think it was that color that caused your weak knees... but I know what you mean. That's about the color of my dad's TT roadster with the baseball seats which is why I was leaning more towards Stone Grey like @Joe Fortino's car.. that is one near perfect car. . If dad sells the Audi before I get to it... I may go back to Slate but that Auritium Green is strong too. ( i may have to go all Calvin & Hobbs eenie-meanie...)
@Wrenn Smith posted:@Stan Galat I don't think it was that color that caused your weak knees
I see what you did there.
Snap! It wasn't the color. It was getting my bones sawed off - that's what made me weak in the knees.
I was forced into child labor by my Brother forcing me to continually wax his black lacquer 46 chevy fleet line, just so I could ride around in it with him. I swore I would never own a black car ! Hark ! Hark ! My Spyder will be black with red frame and details. I'll probably do a plastic or ceramic coat over it like .....JNC's coupe...........Bruce
Anyone else give any credence to the "pale colors for visibility to other drivers" issue? It's not my first consideration, but it's on my list.
The old light porsche yellow is what I think I am going with. I believe condor yellow.. unless I get frisky and go racing yellow.

Eric.....Now that, I Think, would look good with whitewalls..........Bruce
I guess part of the yellow color choice is if you are aiming for the vintage look like the above photo , or the Speed Yellow. Outlaw look ,
I painted my chop top drag bug “Speed Yellow” or whatever color Yellow toner with no other additives is called , it was bright and everyone loved it…….but I am not sure if you want it as an everyday driver color !

I think the opposite is true. There’s a reason I drive with my lights on in my silver cars on overcast days.
@Erik A Hopperton Very nice choice. If I had been able to commission a build, I would have gone with VW Yukon Yellow, after my much-missed 68 convertible, which is a step subtler still than your Porsche color. When I was shopping I passed up a speedster in condor yellow because the title VIN was missing a digit of the chassis VIN, and the seller's DMV office said "oh, just sell it; nobody will notice."
Here is my yellow Speedster

That's the view he has seen the most. jkjkjk
I'm having some problems moving pictures around. I've had my engine running for about a year. It's a 2498 cc and runs great.
