Howard and the answers he was getting got me to thinking, and I had some time on my hands. Angela found/posted a color called Arrow Blue (Fishcop) and it looked a hell of a lot better to me as a stand-alone color than the powder blue I was considering.
Here's another public opinion poll for you guys. The two last times we did this, y'all swayed the decision on: a.) how I should treat my dash emblem and b.) steered me toward the Gulf scheme from the Irish Green paint over saddle brown powdercoat.
Since y'all have such good taste, this time I'd like to narrow the focus a little more. Stick with the Gulf scheme, or try the Fishcop and Safety Orange?
Or maybe leave it 1956 Porsche Racing Silver?

I am amazed at the response by the club to the "colors" thread. Its done a couple of things, obviously widened my search for the "perfect" speedster combo, and made me realize, IM not crazy for driving myself nuts over this. This car has taken on a life of its own, building something unique, working with and talking to wonderful people, all bitten by the same bug. Working hard in life and rewarding yourself with a gift, its such great fun. Thank you
Racing silver w/bronze flakes added to the metallic mix to cast a greenish tone, all buried in clear, metallic gun metal meatballs, white number(s) with a thin orange pin-line around the meatball and out-lining the number(s).

I can live with removable vinyl meatballs.

The benefit of the silver is that you can leave any aluminum details like louvered access or deck panels, plates, outer reinforcements, windshield supports and such in bare aluminum. Pitted chrome and such can be painted in silver or gray metalic without looking cheap. Attach anything you like with aluminum rivets etc., and it all looks intentional and a part of the whole. No need to search for that perfect fender mirror, sand and paint that old pitted one and it's PERFECT ! !

It takes the car out of LeMans and throws it into the La Carrera Panamericana. Porsche did VERY well in both venues, but the is associated with the later.

I know . . . a LOT more convervative (and maybe safer and surely not original) than you are planning, but with all that's going on under the skin, I'd wrap it in a little traditional "vintage" on top.

Like playin' poker with the other Outlaws, you don't show all your cards at once.

Just MY opinion.
