Are these pics, the same car?
Note the mirror on pic 1 and 3
No "porsche" badge on front of pic 3 vs. pic 1
Different wheels
Or just different dates of pics?
Nice car in any event
Good eye, Art. The top pics look to be of the same car but the bottom one is not one of the above.
Um, retired too much time on my hands.
Cars #1 & 3 have different bumper guards. This reminds me of those old ads you'd see that would ask you: how many things are wrong in this photo?
A Coolrydes car without 17 inch wheels....impossible.
Is this the Intermeccanica from TN? It was for sale on craigslist for a while. Here's a shot of it loaded on the hauler that took it out west. Seller unloaded a bunch of ACVW's along with it.
Not sure but you may have one of the oldest IM's on the SOC...
David Stroud has a 70's IM as well as I have a '79 IM in my home shop for paint etc.
that one will go up for sale in late August.
Kevin, will it have the Mendiola treatment?
Where's Waldo? Alan - curious if you see many difference in the "early CA" IMs and follow-on CMCs? CMC bought IM out in 1979 (?) and got their molds and remaining stocks. I'd be curious as to differences (if any) - hibachi grill? sub-frame?
From WIKI-

1976–1979

Automobili Intermeccanica was formed in partnership between Frank Reisner and Tony Baumgartner in Santa Ana, California, to build Speedsters. About 600 Speedsters were constructed. Tony Baumgartner bought out Frank Reisner's 50% share of Automobili Intermeccanica and later sold the Speedster project and equipment to Classic Motor Carriages in Florida.
Early IM fit is VG i.e door, hood gaps etc. Slight differences to include " shaped blocks" that mount bumpers to the body instead of steel brackets.
Alan,
This one has a door sticker that says it was built in March of 78 and a ser# 8A0161
Is there a registry or some way to find out more on this car? If it was assembled by them or a private person in a garage?
Bill, I was not planning on it, however anything is possible if you wanted to place an order for it.....
I need to go over to the paint guy tomorrow , will look at the door tag info .
KEVIN!!!
We missed you and your lovely wife in SLO this year.
Ted
Ted,
Not as much as we missed being there....... I was right in the middle of moving my shop into a larger place.
Next year for sure.....
