Ernie and Warren,
check out the knowledge section - Things to check for engine cooling problems:

I've read a number of negative posts on various forums regarding the use of the oil pump you mentioned - Gene Berg has a technical tip on this issue

Most engine builders drill and tap the case for full flow during the engine build, but it can be done after the engine is built without splitting the case.

Well, so much for my heating problem. I called Kirk at Vintage to ask about it and he said several recently built cars were having the same problem. Since I live in the desert, (111 degrees today), he suggested a new motor. The car left on a flat bed this morning to have a proven engine installed. I guess it pays to live fairly close to your builder. He hasn't determined the problem yet, but he seems to really want to make it right. Yes, it's been a pain in the arse, but I guess with anything brand new, things happen. I just want them to take care of this stuff before I go screwing around with things, like oil coolers and such.
That sounds great Warren! Hope it works out for ya. Please keep us hot weather VS-1915 guys posted.
Regarding the 1915. Kirk called today and said they have found the problem with heating in some newly built cars. It appears his engine builder got ahold of some bad oil coolers. They put on a different cooler, put it back together and ran it hard on the freeway. The temp guage only went halfway. He said it was 94 in Hawaiian Gardens today. I wonder if they wore sweaters? It's 111 here today. We'll see how the new oil coolers handle this heat. I don't have the car back yet.

That's good news.
Ricardo - Yea, let's hope so. Ricardo, do you have crusin' buddies in San Juan?
That's very encouraging Warren. I'd guess that with your climate, you are the classic test case for our configuration. Maybe my motor has a similar stock oil cooler problem. At any rate, by adding more cooler already, my car seems to be cooling fine up here to the north. We only got to 103 yesterday (pretty damn hot IMHO). Of course, that's nothing like 111. I'm just tickled that I no longer live in Redding where it was 116 a couple of weeks ago.
