Hi All,

How many of you have had experience with Compu-Fire electronic ignition?

I installed one in my 2110/dual Dells last June and have been pleased with the results. No more condensor, points, or periodic adjustments.

I had been setting the 009 to 30 degrees BTDC at 3,000 RPM with the points/condensor configuration. After installing the module I had some slight pinging on hard acceleration between 2500 and 4000 RPM so I re-set the timing to 28 degrees and everything is fine.

I'm not sure about increased mileage at this point, but my warm idle went from 1,000 to 750 RPM. The occasional stumbling when taking off in first gear is no longer happening and I haven't lost any performance with the 28 degree retard.

Any feedback or suggestions?

Yes. It's made by compufire for the t-1. But with a little more
investigation people are adapting modern distributorless
"crank fired" ignition systems sourced from the "junky". Works fine.
I'm 42 and not a huge tech fan myself. But better is better. Besides,
all these "ignition systems" that still retain the original coil are just replacing the "switch" if you will that tells the coil when to fire. Yes you no longer have a moving part (points) and yes you eliminate any burnt point problems because your not passing electricity across them but it's still the same ol idea.
Mike:
An enthusiastic thumbs up. I believe this is a perfect reverse engineered version of the very successful Pertronix unit. My Compu gave up the ghost---I beleive my fault and they replaced the unit witho ut question. YOiu do not see that kind of customer service every day.
(I crossed the wires for just a picosecond but that was enough--maybe not enough to fry the unit but enough to make it work weird. Nice guy in tech support.
