Sorry, Bill.....
Trust me, VS uses VW valve spring retainer washers. They are for the 36hp engine and the p/n is 111109641
Don't get the later version, as it has a pronounced nipple on it, versus the curved or domed top of the 36hp version.
Look here: https://www.bugcity.com/shop/s...alve+spring+retainer
Clean them up with a powered wire brush and they'll look like Sacto Mitch's photo up above.
I tore the shop (and the shop attic) apart and didn't find any valve spring washers. I must have thrown them out in the "moving around era" back in the early 2000's as part of my "downsizing" exercise into a new house. It was one of those "am I ever gonna use these?" moments. Shoot.....
Thought I might get to deliver them, too (and then forget to return home until, I dunno....June or so?
If you know anyone on the island who dabbles in VW (or any, really) engine repairs, they'll certainly have some kicking around, or you can get them from Bugcity. Really, though, any automotive machine shop should have some old ones at hand, and you can make them new again with a wire brush. How much can a spring washer rust when being bathed in oil every day?
