Is their an installer that you can name or recommend in Northern california, that you would trust to have a clue how to assemble and install ( snaps, latches, everything) a speedster replica top onto the car? I just don't want to tackle it. I would like to take all the parts and pieces to an installer, and say "Here, Call me when it's beautiful. Any names?????????

Gary, there should be many near you . . . but I did install one myself. I ordered a new top from Cabrioworld (www.cabrioworld.com) here in NJ. I then mounted the header bow with special glue to the top. After that, I installed the movable bows (metal)into the bow. The trick is to then install the snaps onto the top (you should have the male ends on the body of your speedster already. Start with the 2 center snaps (those right behind the rear window). Then install them fanning outward to the ends, symetrically. There is a special tool you'll need to buy to snap them onto your top (any upholstery shop should have them, or try Lebarron Bonney). The key is to have a nice warm area to do this so the top can be massaged and stretched as you install. It should be pulled taught as you go. That is the key so it doesn't look like a craggy piece of crap. But I understand your concern about just finding someone to do it. Here in NJ, the prices are astronomical, and old time installers are hard to find. Good luck!
