convertible top question

Hello Everyone,
I am in the process of building a FiberFab (Classic Motor Carriages) Speedster. I've fitted the top but have a question. The top bow that attaches to the windshield frame is not as wide as the top itself; Therefore I have an extra 2 or so inches of top material on each side that have no support underneath. With no support, the extra material will surely raise up or flap around whenever the car is in motion. I don't want to mount additional snaps to the top of the windshield frame. Does anyone have any other tips or suggestions?

By-the-way; I'm not talking about the innermost, lower sections of top material that do get snapped to the inside of the windshield frame.

Contact Jack Moore Find him under the registry, or via files (members) and CMC-C. Jack has a CMC and is preety sharp on these cars, plus I received excellent help from him on top installation once.

Hi guys. That little extra material seems weird if you are used to convertible tops, but that's because we are used to cars with roll up windows. That's the way both my CMC-Cs work. By the way, one of my CMC-Cs windshield is a little over one inch further forward than the other, and the tops both have about that much extra material on the sides. No, it does not flap around. These cars have side curtains. Start by laying it ou, installing it in the rear as shown. Work your way forward. Make sure you have stretched the top tight.
