I replaced the right side mirror on my VS many years ago with a convex lens model. It worked great, opening up the blind spot off the rear quarter.
Flyenby,
I had the one Terry posted on the right side of my VS. It's first rate German quality and the chrome is flawless. Only problem is that it will make you other mirror looks like it was made in China (because it probably was). I don't think they sell the head without the base but you can check.
Not sure... ..I will re check, but I purchased a similiar mirror from Vintage Speedsters for $60. They have an excellent field of rear vision. Maybe mine are what you already have fitted, but appear to have a very wide field of vision when I look into them.
.....same Vintage Speedster mirror for either side works well for me. Two or $120.00 I think was the pricing.

Thanks to all.... I was able to buy the heads alone for under 25.00 each from Stoddard, bought 2 will try one on drivers side also...although not recommended. I will see if the drivers side distoration is too much once again thanks
Do you have a part number for the head only?
It looks like Stoddard wants more than $129 for the whole mirror.
I called the west coast Stoddard number.. spoke with sales staff...took him about 5 minutes to look up...ordered them today..sorry did not get a part number, was so shocked I could get the head only....
Troy, I am pretty picky and to me there was a big difference. Even the plastic trim ring was a nice bright white instead of off white to yellow. Maybe the recent ones are better.
a convex mirror set is a real saftey improvemet. I'd say a must have..
I ordered a couple - $22.50 each plus shipping.

OK. I got it sorted out. You have to order from the West coast Stoddard, which used to be NLA. They are in Reno and their number is 800-438-8119. They only sell the convex version as the head only.
Troy
I called the west coast and talked to Keith.
But, they were actually shipped from Ohio. I ordered yesterday and expect delivery today.

Hi in my last reply I mentioned that I called West Coast Stoddard.....glad it worked out for you. Sierra Madre charges about 56.00 per head Thanks
I got my mirrors today, one day after ordering. I was a little surprised that they are marked "Made in Germany".
Hi if you swap out the drivers side with the convex...can you let me know how the field of vision is? I am in Calif and havent recieved mine yet Thanks
I won't be able to report for a couple of months. We have snow and cold in Michigan now. Also, I pulled the gauges out and sent them off to Palo Alto Speedometer for modification.
What you can see depends very much on where the mirrors are mounted. I discovered I mounted mine too far toward the rear of the car. With the standard mirror I can't see anything in the driver's side mirror. Right now I have those round stick on convex mirrors on both sides.
Heres a thougt Most motorbike mirrors are convex type if anyone here knows of a bike mirror that is pear shaped about the same size.. I'd like to know I'd swap out the mirror heads for the safer convex type
Hi just recieved my mirror heads from Stoddard...major difference in vision, I put convex on both sides. The passenger side difference is dramatic, the drivers side is greatly improved. My mirrors are mounted on the fenders
I would love to see a pic of your fender mounted mirrors and where you got them.
