I appreciate your support gentlemen...Quick release pins are not the same as they are completely manual in operation (in and out). Don't be fooled...I used one on my deck lid for 3 years and got tired of it. That's why I came up with this system HANDS FREE locking with no pin inserting or Visegrips (Doug Kingston) been there too!

The best way to order is using PayPal (kvdesign@msn.com). Please include your complete shipping address.I am fulfilling orders this weekend and will be sending out next week. Again, thank you for your support!

I also, wanted to let you SoCal boys and girls HB Aircooled is willing to do the install at a discounted rate of 30.00. Standard shop rate is 100.00 per hour and this can be done in 30 min. That is a saving of 20 bucks!

I would agree that the value-add of a clear set of instructions that avoids guess work, wasting time fiddling back and forth with measurements and placement, and possibly buying a replacement hinge if you don't get it right the first time is probably worth the higher price for most customers.

The curse of a simple, effective, and cheap solution is that it is easily replicated.

Thanx... Ordered two through Ken. Wish I was close to him, as I would have had his recommended shop install it too....  Been swamped at work, I'm falling behind on my winter projects, + plus I left my garage door wide open while at Sun Valley with the kids last week and came back home to find most of my tools missing.  Fortunately cars/motorcycle/bikes etc were all untouched...

(Art I am with you man!) I hated that prop rod on the front lid as well! I installed a hood strut on mine located on the driver side for easy access to fill up. Was pretty happy with it until I installed the15 gallon custom tank with center fill. I would like to easily access gas on either side. Sooooo it's been on my mind...we will see.

I thank everyone for your recent orders and support! Will be working on orders all weekend.

Thanks, Cole. That's what I figured you may be using. Still can't get the video to open, new computer and I'm not too swift about installing programs to open such things. What strut do you use and where did you get it ?

I like Ken's pin latch and I'd think it would be pretty "automatic" to get into the open position for the lid but I haven't got room to drill my hinge brackets on the firewall because my coolant reservoir is in the way. Guess I could remove that temporarily. Thanks...

David, I'm on my way to Hawaii as I type and will not be back for a bit. If you find the two brackets and mount them, all you need to do is measure the extended and closed length. It doesn't need to be exact.

I'll be back about 3/7, and if you still need some info, I can do it then.

You could also look for my other post on this subject, I think I identified the strut in that discussion.

As an aside....and I might just be a nosey bugger, it's interesting to me to understand some our Speedster friends just a bit outside our collective automotive interests.

I looked up Cole Thompson Photography. Some pretty amazing talent that Cole has. You owe it to yourself to check out some of his stuff, especially Angel Gabriel. Very, very nice stuff.

Powerful stuff...

Art this ones for you......The front hood hinge gas shock is part number C16-0445 55lbs. 17'' extended and 11.5" compressed...Suspa brand. Been on the car for 3 years and works like a champ!

*WARNING.....shock must not be under a load when in locked or closed position. It will put unnecessary stress on the fiberglass, hinge and lock. Ask any competent installer and he will tell you the same thing...if it springs up like a mouse trap beware!

I can put together a kit with instructions if there is an interest.

Thanks,

Ken
