Ya, ya, ya...it's 10 days away I know!

Saturday the 22nd is my birthday, so I should have some extra pull with the weather gods. I'll put in a word for you.
Thanks, Lane. We'll toast to you on Saturday evening somewhere in Peoria, hopefully under clear skies
The Sunday morning cruise route across the river bluffs is dry and in great shape now that the weather has started to be more like summer. There are several potential stops along the route. Some good views of the river (look for bald eagles and jumping carp) some spots to gas up, get a snack, take some pictures, and test driving skills a bit.
We'll have lunch on the Peoria side of the river and then head across one of the
bridges towards greater Stanistan for some more driving in a different environment.
We are starting to see news in the paper about the Great Race stopover on Monday the 25th as well.
More to come!
Pooh, now Saturday looks totally sunny!!!
You're welcome
Back to reality, forecast is looking rather dim again, there's always the 911 and Bug.
Cummon' Rich, draw a deep breath. The WC missed the last three days almost completely, the day before. Corn Daze Deux is 9 days away-- a lot could change.
Stan, I've been known to be a little Curmudgeon.

Where'd you get the "bad-tempered" part? Now surly, that works.
Listen, Rich. Seriously. I'm about to drag Jeni halfway across the country to spend time with my folks, pick up my son and then drive all the way back to Baltimore, all while dragging the Hoopty around on a trailer JUST so it can be in Tremont and Peoria for the MidWest guys to actually see it.
It still doesn't have a top, and I'll be damned if that's going to stop Jeni and I from driving the Tour d' Corn in it. It might be one of the highlights of the entire trip.
Please, try not to be Debbie Downer on this rain business. It can hear you, and every time you utter a "pooh," you give the rain clouds strength. They feed on that, like Cthulu.
I think we could use a little more positive wave here, like maybe give us the increasingly popular view of how much of a chance there is for sunny skies and a lack of rain -- precipitation of any kind, really -- and let's be on with this without this nonsense of bringing your 911 or Beetle.
:-)
I don't think Rich has a Speedster. We all know how good he is at photoshop. If he doesn't bring it to Corn Daze, I think we have all the evidence that we need ;-)
I'm doin' the best I can for ya, guys. I still think a guy's birthday has to mean something with the weather gods. Sure wish is wasn't soooooo far from the coast of SC to join y'all.
My Speedster was at the inaugural Corn Daze and here it was right next to the Lord of Stanistan. This year it'll be hot and sunny and Stan just wants to see my 911.

THAT's what I'm talkin' about!
Great pictures, too. Thanks!
I feel so foolish, here I was looking at weather in the Peoria area for the past few days...when I, of course, should have been looking for The People's Republic of Stanistan where everyday is filled with sunshine and where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average (thanks to Garrison).

So let it be written.
So let it be done.
The picture above of the four Speedies is at the Stanistan military complex disguised as a grainary. Those are really ICBM silos. The ICBM's are powered by some very warmed over type 1's designed by the Emperor himself.
Forewarned is forearmed........
My wife Sue and I returned early From Peoria a few hours ago. Corn Daze II was SUPER fun and there was a total of 8 speedsters attending. 4 of us linked up and drove from the Chicago area yesterday AM and arrived at Stan's home around 3 PM.
6 Speedsters made the trip into Peoria for a great steak diner last night.
8 of us joined up at the Embassey Suites this morning for a day of driving.
These pix are from this mornings drive up and around the Illinois river and heights. Great weather and perfect selection of winding roads with little to NO traffic!
Kinda bummed we had to leave for home early. I Look forward to staying for both days next year... Also: Super pleased with my 78' Intermeccanica!! I drove the car pretty hard with no hiccups or issues. It was 90 degrees F today. My wife really enjoyed the trip and the company.

Last year - the first year of Corn Daze - there were four.
This year there are eight.
Next year I'll bet there are ten to twelve...a number that insures a continuing intimate, cozy, warm camaraderie experience!!!
Pics look great! I have no doubt everybody had a good time with this Corn Daze group!
The Midwest Speedy Squadron awaiting a takeoff at Corn Daze. What, just one set of beehives?

Not to get all OCD, but perhaps we should open a new thread for our weekend photos.
Just a thought, maybe too late.
