Bob and Stan.  Sandy and I wanted to say thank you for a great weekend. Rich, thanks for the shirts.  Jeani, thanks for the yummy deserts and coffee. Tom B.  Thanks for picking up desert and to Joe for buying a round of drinks at Purdue's.  Bob, thanks for the coolant as my wet car was getting a little hot from all the slow-lazy driving we were doing .   Sandy really liked this event and hopes that we do it again next year.  Cory, don't let Bob drive the Hoopty again at dusk.  My life flashed before my eyes as were supposed by going right and all I saw was green grass instead of paved road.  Bob made a great recovery on that one.  He said my mouth was moving but no words were coming out .  This video recaps some of the weekend.  I racked up over 500 miles at this driving event. Click on the the gear and watch in 480.

Sandy: What a great job of capturing so much of the gathering! I have more video and stills I will forward to anyone who would like them, including Great Race. Unfortunately, none of it is of the quality of Sandy's work.

Stan and I are talking about next year and would appreciate any feedback on how the weekend could be improved.

Everybody contributed to the fun and that made the event even more special.

I am preserving my Corn Daze Deux T shirt for all time! As usual, Rich came through with a great design and excellent execution. He's a treasure!

Marty, Sandy-

That was most excellent! Jeanie and I really enjoyed the video (we laughed, we cried, it moved us), but REALLY enjoyed the weekend. I was grateful for every guy who took the time to come out to the "middle of nowhere" to share a weekend of driving and eating (bar food-- I'm talkin' to YOU Rich) and laughing.

We're already looking forward to "Corn Daze, Part Trois"! Be there, or be square.

I think that'd be excellent, Bob. Those roads were perfect-- no driveways, no traffic, clean, decent pavement, etc. 29 north of Spring Bay is fantastic in and of itself.

I finally got the carbs dialed in on the new motor. It's hard to explain how much difference it makes until you experience it for yourself. PLEASE let me fix yours. Give me a call, bud.

An appeal for Corn Daze 2014.

I don't plan on going to Carlisle every year.  I went this year, but the year before opted for going to the mountains instead.  With a 3-year old, I have to fight for my right to party and can only squeeze in about one trip per year.

In 2014, I don't plan on going to Carlisle, but plan on coming to Corn Daze instead.  There's a few of you who I haven't met yet, like Stan and Joe that I probably have a better chance of meeting you there.  Plus, it's a couple of hours closer for me than Carlisle.

I've had the good fortune of cruising with the SoCAL guys in Jim's Speedster, going to Carlisle twice, cruising the mountains (including the TOD), and driving through the Arkansas mountains in Jack's Speedster.

I would like to add cruising the cornfields to my list of Speedster experiences.  It will be just like being home where I grew up in Kansas :-)

This year, you guys met during my wife and son's birthday weekend and I was throwing a big surprise party for my wife's 40th.

If possible, can you avoid scheduling this for the weekend of June 21st and 22nd next year?  It will greatly increase my odds of coming.

Tom-

Like most good things, this just sort've happened. Cory Drake was coming out to St. Louis with his son a couple of years ago, and made a stop along the way. Last year we decided to get a couple of guys together... on a Thursday. This year, we tried to do it right and make a weekend out of it. There were still some bugs to work out of it, but next year-- for sure, uh huh, we'll do a normal Friday night through Sunday morning honest-to-goodness "normal" event. No weekdays.

We'd love to have any and all comers, and will continue to work to make this an accessible event. Honestly, if the 21st/22nd is bad for you-- we're probably in luck, as we got very lucky this year on the height of the corn (due to delayed planting for the floods). A good guess would be the second weekend in June-- the corn should be about the right height (to see over).

Honestly, Sept. is the cat's whiskers here. The farmers will be harvesting soon, so the corn will be down. The weather is spectacular (hot and dry during the day, cool at night), and the bugs are down a bit from June/July.That's exhibit "A" why I'm excited about the Starved Rock day coming up in a couple of weeks.

You ought to come. The Starved Rock area has a bunch of cute little lodges and a resort as well. The roads are good, and we'll be there on Saturday the 21st. Allan Shapiro is coming up from Missouri with his Ruby-Red IM. We'd love to have you.
