Hello all I have been asked to produce a correct/original rear deck to fit the replica cars Chamonix etc. The request came from the Spyderclub Forum where I (alloycars) have several posts. The original shape comes from original scans out of which we build our exact, aluminum recreation, So there is no room for interpretation errors. The question is, are there any 550 replica owners interested in a correct/original rear clamshell ready to paint (primered)for $2000.00. It seems everyone on the Spyderforum has gone to sleep or were shocked at the price/offer. I wonder if you think $2000.00 is too high or if the rear end on the replicas is fine just the way it is. In any case I have a buck and can pull rear ends off the mold in 2 weeks. Please mail or call me with your thoughts. I hope this is not considered commerial advertisement! I am trying to estimate weather the request is worth persuing.

Thank you

Ozzie

Ozzie,

I hate the rear end the way it is.... I would expect to pay 2,000 to 3,000 for a large fiberglass part such as a rear deck. Based on prices for a Corvette clip, probably more but the replica market would not bear that cost...

If money loosens up in the future for us, we'll be knocking on your door for that item.

Angela, Thank you this is a better start than I have found elsewhere. If you want to know more about it or see pics let me know and I will gladly send pics. I know you have seen pics of the correct car/drawings and buck on my site www.alloycars.com

Come to think of it, you mentioned you were interested in my original post months ago on the Spyderclub. Please Help me spread the word over there, I read so many complaints about the replica rear ends and how ugly and tall and unathentic blah, blah, blah. Now there it is, I am offering it and not a peep from anyone.
Anyway, I am a bit dissapointed but it is the price I pay for being so spontaneous and excitable.

Thanks again

Ozzie
Ozzie, I am interested, but too busy to act right now. (And paying the deductible/insurance shortfall for a slate roof that got destroyed in a hail storm.)

Is this a bolt-on solution for a Beck? As in, it's wide enough? I say this, having compared my Spyder with an original owned by an acquantance, and the Beck is considerably wider.

My car came with an aluminium pan, and I've replaced the doors with aluminium. What I would REALLY love is an aluminium clam shell that's of the correct size for a Beck, but I imagine the price is not feasible.
