I personally lived through Carlisle this past weekend, as I am the Marketing Director for Keisler Engineering, the largest aftermarket transmission builder in the US for classic cars. First off, the weather was to say the least oppressive, high 90's every day, and no where to get out of the heat. Only a very few vendors had generators to run fans. Each morning we bought a case of water & gatorade, but we ran out for the six of us by 3 PM each day.

The storm came at 7 PM Saturday night, certainly a micro burst. 18 people were injured, most slightly, but one guy had a tree fall on his car while he was in it, & I think his arm was broken. The tent covering 20 plus '57 Vettes fell in. Many vendor tents looked like spagetti, I saw 2 inch tubular steel bent like pretzels. The custom 65 Vette belonging to Keisler took a 1 inch steel tent post through a rear quarter panel. Luckily my brand new Z06 was in Harrisburg. We returned to the fairgrounds & it took until 1 AM to pick up our tent remains.

It's going to be interesting to see how folks like Haggerty respond to this diasater. No one was killed, but many vendors of clothing, etc may have lost their inventory.
Sure was a good bit of damage for such a short storm, although I imagine it seemed like an eternity as it went down at the fairgrounds. The same storm came my way and raised hell for about 10 minutes. I had a kettle of wings frying out on the grill which I brought in to finish on the electric stove. Just as we were settling down to watch the Bristol race***BLINK*** Power went out.....and stayed out for 7 hours!
A similar storm rolled through near Annapolis, MD the same evening. We just got anchored in time. Unbelievable wind, rain and lightening. Several times I thought we were heading to land but the anchor held. A friend wasn't so lucky - his boat ended up on land and three larger boats were blown to shore. A wild start to a ten day trip. Too bad about the mess at Carlisle.
