Desk clerk told me that they loved having 'car people' since we usually didn't tear the place up...and start fires (I think Jim kept Vinny on a short leash)

I'd be pleased to book there next year too...since I finally figured out the roads to and from.

More complimentary chocolate Hersey Kisses would be appreciated though...five just wasn't enough for my sweet tooth!
The hotel was 100000000000000 times better then the Dump Dive Inn from last year. Room was clean, A/C worked great and the water pressure was fantastic. For security reasons, I especially liked that it was *hidden* and not out on the main road. SOC basically had the parking lot to ourselves until Saturday night. I enjoyed being able to see my car and all the Speedsters through the window. Like many of yours, my car does not EVER stay outside overnight and last year it actually kept me awake with worry. LOL You all better believe if I saw anything weird going on with any of the cars, I would of been outside in two seconds.

The location is very safe..how do I know? While talking to Alan Shapiro and putting the Spyder to bed, I placed the cover on, ran the cable and locked it. The next day I found out I had left the keys in the ignition.. Car thief would of had no problem stealing it after chopping the cable. I cant believe I left them in the car! It was fun racing down the Turnpike to get to the Fairgrounds. I also liked being able to go to the lobby at any hour and get some free ice tea. Missed seeing you Alan! Thanks for picking a great place!

ps....the only *strange* thing I saw in the parking lot was this guy with his plaid pink, orange and brown bomber style hat LOL He said he got it at Kohls and it was made by Candies....these two were fantastic to hang out with!

Ditto. Alan, I am sorry there was no way for you to come hang w/ your homies this past week end a lot more than you did. There was a very big hole in the proceedings with you otherwise occupied. It was just not quite the same.

The hotel was very nice, of course, being new and modren, and all. Price reasonable. Wish it was closer to the fairgrounds, and that there were fewer, by at least 50, red lights between the one and the other. I found taking the highway and turnpike to be most satisfying, although not thrilled to be charged for the favor. Also, what is the chance that the PA highway commish might throw a little road repair funds at that section of town? Many of the roads there were pretty rough on my suspension . . . just sayin'

So, on to the Pumpkin Run as our next East coast formal adventure. Perhaps we can find a way to run some other informal events between now and then.
I tried the turnpike myself and came to the conclusion that the buck twenty-five toll was well worth reducing most of the red lights. After all, there were only a few trips to and from the field anyway and it wouldn't break the bank. Don't know how easy paying tolls on a rainy day with s/curtains mounted would be, though.

I thought the hotel was very nice and once we get past the growing pains with the travel, it will become old hat. This new location will open up many new possibilities for cruising destinations that otherwise would be a bit out of reach from Carlisle.

Alas, I seem to be one of the unfortunate few (actually, me and John Weyand) who stayed at the Park Inn. You folks only saw the front area - it goes waaaaaayy back there and that was where my room was. Kinda close to the banquet room, but parking was way around the back. We also had the Navy Depot just across the street from the hotel. The first night, I parked Pearl and put her cover on and went to bed. When I went down in the morning, there was a HUGE Navy truck parked on each side of her, both hugging the outside of their respective parking space, giving Pearl a bit more room. Taped to Pearl's cover was a note: "We peeked under the cover and would like a better look. If we're not out when you leave, please call this number and we'll come out --- --- ----"

We also had about a hundred firemen staying there for some convention in Harrisburg. Never felt especially worried about parking Pearl in that lot.........

Glenn and I really appreciated the new venue. When we started going to Ocean City we stayed in two motels that were torn down after we left. That's when I decided that a few more bucks are nothing compared to comfort, cleanliness, security and not sleeping on pillows that smell like ashtrays. Thanks, thanks, thanks. We hope everything went well with the "unavoidable previous committment." Sorry you missed the new hat.

Good job Dr. Clock. The hotel was great; the nice letter of greeting and the plate of cookies and kisses were a nice touch. It was a nice clean hotel with never a worry of being stared at by compound-eyed critters while in the shower. I never made the jaunt on the expressway, finding the nice country road drive on SR641 just fine. I would stay in this hotel again in a heartbeat. Thanks!

As Gordon said the Park Inn was fine. Lots of firemen (firepersons ?)and not much noise. Rooms were nice and clean. BUT I have no idea how to get from Park Inn to the Marriot. I followed another Speedster on the turnpike to arrive at the Park from the Marriot. Getting to the fairgrounds was easy from the Park Inn. Once I got home I installed a power outlet and will travel with the GPS from now on! As Bill mentioned, paying tolls in the rain will make all of us users of EZ Pass.
Hi ~ Thank you - the Marriott was sooo nice. Everything about it was great. Only problem, I messed up and went throught the EZ Pass lane on the turnpike, but didn't have an EZ pass. Good thing Max and Marv were behind me at the Carlisle exit. The toll worker wouldn't let me leave until Max and Marv coughed up $18.50 for me. Other than that, I just loved the Marriott and the entire weekend was fabulous!

Wild Bill gave Kathy and me a tour of the "Bigga-Casa Della Drayer", out in the parking lot, as Dave Bash's wheel bearings were being upgraded/checked.

Pretty snazzy digs there, Wild Bill. You and Calamity Joan have really spiffed the place up. I especially liked the full-size Keurig Coffee maker sitting on the counter. That says that this man travels with his priorities straight, that's for sure.

Somehow, I never found the toll road between the Courtyard and the show grounds. I took 581 to RT11 and then followed that to Calvary road and up to the fairgrounds. A few lights, to be sure, but lots less hectic than I-81. I have trouble with toll roads without my EZ-Pass - I always end up way too low and then have to stand up in the seat to give the money to the toll person. Makes me feel like I'm driving an MG MIdget or a go-kart or something far less civilized.

I heard, though, that there was another road on the other side of Carlisle center that gets you to the hotel w/o the lights and all. I think the Gallos know about it.
