My first ( it was complete) CMC kit still in the crate set me back $2,800 ~
My second CMC kit, also still in the crate, cost me $3,000 back in 2010-ish.

You should see what people want for non-running, non-current tech inspection Formula Vee cars. People are smoking crack these days.
These cars all need new 6-point belts, a current fire system, and probably a new fuel cell. Plus completely gone through including engine rebuild(2k if nothing major is found). And old tires are useless except to roll the car in the shop.
Pan-based VMC speedsters are selling for over $60K on BaT. That pulls up the price of absolutely everything.
Meyers Manx certified dune buggy are selling at a minimum of $35k to as high as $70k on BAT.
